Many people buy mint sets so the can have one of each denomination and mint mark. A Missing coin can lower the value of your set.

It’s a defect. If I would have gotten it that way from the mint I would return it. If you got it second hand it likely means someone removed it before you got it.

Seeings how these plastic holders are easily popped open, the value is less. Send it back!

Error Proof coins are one thing. Missing coins are another. Return it. There is no upside.

If you return it to the US Mint, make sure that you ask them to reimburse you for the shipping.

@JoelWayne.... Welcome aboard.... Send it back, if you got it from the mint. If not, return it to the seller. Cheers, RickO

  • Silver proof coins are hermetically sealed. If a coin is missing wouldn't the only cause be a mint error or am I off track here?

The holders are not sealed. They pop open like any two piece capsule.

It’s a mint error as in you aren’t getting what you paid for. It’s not a mint error that has any value to anyone. And, as also mentioned, these holders aren’t sealed in any way. They are easily pried open.

Any chance the dime is merely out of it's slot and hidden?

    Possibly, but not probably.
