Please comment if you feel so inclined to help keep it on the front page, but I am offering a poll as I usually do.

Clean cheek with very few marks. Yet it has the look of a 65 to me. If luster is good a 66 would not surprise me.

...looks gem but only if the in hand look has more luster showing...it’s a bit muted from here ;)

I like the poll concept too. I’ll have to remember to do that on some future GTG.

It's hard to tell how strong the lustre is from the photos, as well as the severity (and perhaps presence) of some chatter, particularly on the reverse. The cheek is quite clean and wouldn't look out of place on a 66, but the reverse looks a bit lower. Assuming it's flashy enough, I think 65 is fair, though assuming it doesn't look far different in hand (as in something is really different in the good or bad direction) anywhere from 64-66 could be reasonable depending on the lustre and some of that chatter I mentioned.

I saw the previous grade guesses before the pictures loaded and MS65 didn’t even enter my mind as a possibility. The luster looks fine to me and the surfaces are exceptionally clean, even in largely magnified images.

While I guessed MS66, if plus grades had been among the poll options, I would have selected 66+. And an assigned grade of MS65 would surpise me more than MS67 would.

I agree the coin is very clean and a 67 would not surprise me either. I just do not like the look of the coin and 65 is were I would be. From the photos I would not be a buyer of this coin. Probably is much nicer in hand.

Maybe in a 65 holder? but should be in a 66 IMO.

Nice clean cheek and obverse fields. A little chatter on the reverse. I guessed 66.

I select MS65... Just does not have the overall look of a higher grade to me....Looks like a lot of forum members think it is better, so perhaps the flat, unappealing surfaces in the picture are deceiving me. Cheers, RickO

This is a date that comes very nice. I voted MS 66 because it's all there for that grade. Coins with that less than attractive toning often get punished in the grading room so MS 65 wouldn't shock me at all. To me it's more interesting and probably unchanged (compared to the bright white ones).

Since you voted and know the grade that’s a powerful statement.

Also, just post the grade already!

That makes me think it’s probably graded lower than his (and my MS66) grade.

    It is not, unfortunately. It's a 66. I think it is a 66+ today.

I would LOVE to buy this as a 65.

I paid about full retail for a 66, but that's fine given what 66+'s go for. The jump to 67 is crazy!

I feel a definite 66. As to wear on the Eagles beak, I feel there is absolutely no wear and that is proven by the sharp line forming edge of the beak which would be the first to go with wear. JMO

My photos are fine. I just choose not to showcase luster but rather feature the surfaces. It's not my fault that some on this forum can't seem to understand how to read the luster in my images since my style is slightly atypical of the broader coin imaging style.

I agree that the photos are fine - 29 out of the 37 votes were for either MS65 or MS66, with MS66 being the largest number.

Luster is the reason that I stuck to 65. It certainly has the surfaces of a 66. For the record----I totally agree with the 66 grade.....It is a gorgeous Morgan. I'm Just explaining my thinking, so others understand why I chose how I did.

I think it would help since luster is sometimes hard to determine in a photo to post a slight description of the luster on a GTG. Such as full luster, muted luster, etc. I recently did this on a GTG to help the guessers out.
