Games People Play

Has anyone else noticed the number of games that sellers have been playing over the course of this lockdown?
I think I am getting played again today but will not comment further than that for now.
I have had more sellers cancel a coin I bought after the fact in the last year than in my over 20 years of buying coins on the internet.
The excuses are comical.
No details, for now.
I just have a huge dislike for people who do not keep their word.

Yes, but my take is a bit different. I've won a couple of auctions from sellers that never had the coin to begin with. Been refunded my money in each case but it seems to be a new twist (new sellers with zero feedback selling graded coins with stolen images).

Been there done that, as a buyer
Looks like USPS screwed up and not the seller on the one today.
Really odd tho.
Once this sorts out, I post on what happened.
Hope it works out for the best... or at least you do not lose. Just so many horror stories lately, I stay away completely now. Cheers, RickO
No. But I only buy significant coins for my collection from people that I know on a personal basis. One time I didn't. Big mistake. Never again.
I’ve had so many major dealers “lose” coins that I’ve ordered, shipped me completely incorrect coins, never acknowledge ever having the coin or ever offering it for sale (even when I have order numbers showing the specifics). It is comical. Not sure how these companies stay in business with such horrible inventory control.
The small sellers are more known for sending fake coins, fake tpg slabs, and damaged junk that doesn’t match what they say it is. Or they just take your money and never ship anything.
If you’re only experiencing 1 problem at the moment, consider yourself lucky. I had 8 major issues over the course of December and January regarding lost packages that never ending up arriving, fake gold, totally wrong coins, sellers never shipping items, and damaged coins.
I just had a seller refund my payment after I won the coin for a rather low price.
And another coin I bought as a buy it now was refunded immediately after I paid.
As a seller, I take my wins and I also honor my losses.
Part of the deal.
I've had several purchases refunded as coin lost, no longer available. All were low won bid coins. But what really gets me is I have had to return more coins this year than the whole 17 years on ebay. Unreal. Each time refund was made, but time lost is not.

I love the music from the Alan Parsons Project!

running like a water color in the rain...."
Although I'm not a seller, I do have an instant dislike for these type of people. I've seen it on the buying end.
And I LOVE me some Alan Parsons Project. IIRC didn't Alan Parsons produce Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon ? One of the Greatest albums of all time, right up there with Led Zeppelin IV. ( yes I'm that old )

What is described in this thread illustrates the headaches present in purchasing or selling coins in ways other than person to person where the coin is inspected in hand and the coin is exchanged for the purchase price simultaneously.
If you do not have a separate buying account on eBay, perhaps the sellers get nervous when a mint error specialist is winning their auctions. Of course it doesn't excuse their actions, but maybe consider a different buying account/eBay handle that doesn't imply you're an error dealer (IF that's even the case).
