...to turn this into gold. What the heck do you do with something like this?

You can cast it into certain components for the sporting industry as I hear some of those components are very hard to come by lately.

On the other hand you could apply nuclear transmutation however you would need a particle accelerator and you could only do it in extremely small batches, so with that hunk pictured it would take quite a while to accomplish.

I thought of that, Rick. But I'm too lazy these days to reload. Trimming cases is a PITA... :D

Saw it into 2, 3 and 4 pound diver's weights. Put it on ebay.
Then again if you pay the freight, I would gladly accept it. :D

Hey lazybones, you want to borrow my lead weight molds? Or cast it into downrigger weights. Then you could go fishing! Correction, if I loan you the molds, I'm going too!

If you really want to have some fun with it, take a sledgehammer and beat it into a rough elongated potato shape. and then take a acetylene torch and melt the rough edges off and smooth it all over like it is water worn. Take some heavy gravel and create pockets on the surface .Go to Home Depot or Lowes, get the new epoxy gold spray and paint it with several layers of gold paint. Then get some white quartz, the bigger the better, and gently drive the pieces into it so they look like they are part of it.

Then walk into your neighborhood coin store on a Saturday morning carrying it and say real loudly "Hey look what I found out in the desert, or up on the mountain, or in my back yard" or what ever and just watch the reactions!...Hilarious.

    Try not to laugh!

And yes I did have a misspent youth, but I sure had a lot of fun!

It totals around $17 for the brick. Not enough to get me to carry it out of the basement to my truck. :D

Actually, sell it to a plumber, depending on what area of the country you are in, because if they do restoration of historic buildings, we sometimes had to use lead and packing connections on cast iron pipes, depending on how anal the inspectors are. Stupid, but true!

@Bruce7789 Cast soil stack joints are packed with lead and oakum.

Yep! That's what I said, but was having a senior moment and couldn't remember oakum! In some restorations, we could upgrade all the underground piping, and in others we couldn't. We did a lot of historic restoration projects on Military bases, and it seemed like the ROICC's on the Navy bases were the hardest to convince to upgrade out of sight plumbing.

Looks a little light but they make great ballast for on the deck of the boat. I use to move four 50 pounders back and forth all the time. Captain did not like his boat listing to one side.
