Collecting Under The Radar Coins

So many posts recently about the top 100 coins, or the greatest type coins or what ever EVERYONE is looking at.
I take the exact opposite approach to seek out coins that no one even knows exist or follow.
Here are a couple of examples .....
There are many double struck coins in the Lincoln Memorial Cent Series. I located a coin that after thinking about is probably the rarest and nicest latest dated Lincoln Memorial on earth. Just one and I bought it. This is a very rare coin. Show me a nicer later dated double struck Lincoln Memorial, or do I have the one.
Example 2, It is Extemely rare to find major error coins on National Park Quarters.
I just had this one certified. I have never seen another major error on a Shenandoah Quarter. This coin has excellent design and is one of a kind. RARE.
Show us your very rare cool under the radar coins that very few seem to follow

I don't own any errors but I would make an exception for that Lincoln. It's a beauty! Looks like it should have graded higher than 66.
Not big on planchet clips.
But that Lincoln double strike is a stunner!

Planchet clips are soooooooo underrated.
Under the radar but still above the sonar?
If you like rare modern mint error coins, you have to keep an eye on paperchasesue on eBay. They are the best source for modern mint errors and must have a connection somewhere up the chain. I would guess that the two errors you posted above, originated from them.
Golden, sssshhhhhhh,
Golden .......
One of the more popular types of major error is the "Mushroom" Error Coin
This is probably my favorite error type coin.
I have many, many examples of Mushrooms that are Broadstuck coins that have either an Indent or Brockage making the coin look like a mushroom.
When I first saw the below coin on the open market, I immediately contacted the seller to negotiate a deal and get this coin out of the public square. The coin was on the internet for less than 12 hours.
This coin is so awesome and the only example I have of, a SILVER mushroom error coin ....
Thanks! Good to know. I'll have to check them out.
be careful 99% of their coins are junk
Love me some EOC show and tell.
Always learn something.

You have really cool coins like these
... but I don't really think they are under the radar given all the posts
Separate error coin board would be nice.

Thanks everyone.
I just now bought a certified error coin that I hope is mis-labeled, sometimes you gotta take a flyer on under-the-radar coins.
My under the radar winners have been gambling on some enders in 'vintage' coin rolls.
I suspect that some of them were rolled or even seeded deliberately with tantalizing end coins long enough ago to have really paid off for me. The other part is that I've picked them up from sellers who don't sell many coins at all so I have to assume they actually don't know that much or very little at all about what they have. Some of the sellers are the same ones selling little figurines and garage sale or estate sale type thingies.
This was the end coin in a roll I got for embarrassingly little...There was also a really fun mix of very nice early wheat and Indians!

Really neat errors! Makes me want to pick one or two major errors up

First rule of collecting under the radar coins:
YOU DONT TALK ABOUT UNDER THE RADAR COINS!
Because when you do, they are on everyone's radar.

@Kurisu you might start a new thread to get some more opinions on that 1857 1c
That is the whole point of this thread!
Well, you could always go look at the top 100 coins again.
I would wager two thirds of the zinc clips in my Lincoln date set came from their auctions. And let’s keep clips underrated until I’m ready to sell some

I'm no expert but it doesn't look real to me.

I do not collect error coins.... well, except for the blank cent planchet I got in change.... However, I love seeing them and reading about how they came to be made. I will never understand how some of these make it out of the mint.... Well.... maybe I do...
Cheers, RickO
always love an @ErrorsOnCoins thread
how do those planchet clips find their way outside the mint? just randomly inside bank rolls, or—?
I do not know. Many planchet clip error coins are the same size as a normal coin so I suppose they could be found in a roll.
They are not "underrated" they are just unpopular.
Looks to be worth about 18 cents

You are very good at math.
One thing that I've noticed is that like 95+% of the time I click on a slabbed ultra-modern, it's offered by EOC, and never for auction pricing.
These are beautiful coins so I've actually clicked on quite a few in my search results, but I don't know if it if it's good or bad for the market to have one dealer be so dominant. I don't see this type of concentration in other areas of collecting I participate in and perhaps this is an indicator they are still "under the radar"?
I wonder what the market is for these, especially when one goes to sell. I've also been wondering if it would be helpful for someone to put together a price list for these as these seem hard to price, outside of going to eBay sales history via WorthPoint.
Does this count as an under the radar coin!

Kennedys are my quest...
It seems it's a possibility but it has none of the counterfeit indications I'm familiar with. Based on the PCGS Photograde the only thing I notice is the obverse denticals aren't full. On the reverse it matches the AU50 weak strike very well and there don't seem to be any suspicious things about any of the lettering or numbers. Like I said it was incredibly cheap and I would actually like to include it with group to PCGS to find out for sure.
What tells you it might be fake? I only have a couple of Flying Eagles in poor condition so I'm certainly no expert.

The center of the reverse is very weak and the very flat luster looks off. I hope I'm wrong. Please let us know what PCGS says.

I’ll play, Russian platinum rubles only minted for a little under 2 decades starting in the 1820s when Russia found platinum in the Caucus mountains and tried to add it to their monetary standard. It failed and they were all recalled and melted and are pretty rare. They remain the only circulating platinum coinage in human history.
