Ok, what about the dime design?

Every design and denomination in circulation today has had all sorts of recent design changes ... except the dime. Same obverse and same reverse for the last 75 years, unchanged except for some reingraving here and there (and probably less than any other modern US coin). The has to be some sort of record. I was hoping for a design change of some sort for the 75th anniversary. Oh well.
Philately will get you nowhere....

I think the politics involved keep it as it is. I’d like to see a design change as well but the mint is moving away from classic designs and traditional motifs to being like the international community and using coinage to promote differing things. That’s their prerogative, of course, and maybe even a good thing overall.
Edit: Yes, I know that Congress legislates the designs etc. I’m using “the mint” as a shorthand for the whole process involved from design proposal to final product.

I like the dime just the way it is. Leave it alone.
you know - a dime with a big roman numeral 𝐗 on the reverse would be pretty sweet - would've been a neat idea to do really classical redesigns of all us coinage for the 250th anniversary
I would like to see all the dead Presidents removed from the coins. We are a Constitutional Republic, not a monarchy....Keep people off the coins and reinstate art. Cheers, RickO

Roosevelt dime my least favorite of all US coins. Would love to see it changed.

If the design of the dime is changed, reintroduce the half dime and eliminate the nickel. Or co-circulate the two five-cent coins until the nickel is abolished seven years down the line.

Anymore I don't ever carry coins under a quarter in value. When I get that smaller stuff in change from cash purchases I find a donation bucket or bin and deposit it. Even a quarter isn't worth much, but useful when I get snacks and drinks at work.
Dimes in general drive me crazy as they are so small. I have gotten to the age that I need a loop just to read most dates on dimes. I think it is too small for most folks to care.
That said, growing up other than 1976 there were no notable changes to any coins until 1999 with the State Quarters (I don't count any versions of the modern $1 coin). I actually really like most of the quarters. I thought the States were a great series, and National Parks is nice too. If we really get into sports and such I might not be quite as big a fan, I am a sports fan but I don't really need it on my coins. The '09 pennies were nice but the Shield Cent is terrible. I have mixed feelings about some of the Nickel changes as well.
The trouble is, think about the Yankees retiring Babe Ruth as their best, all-time player. Think about it.
Until I got serious about coins, I always thought it was Truman.

When I was younger, I couldn’t recognize FDR on the dime.
I have had non-collectors call him Eisenhower more than once.
Go back to the Winged Liberty design, or leave it alone.
Would of liked to have heard "Dimemans" views of this.
Dimeman says "I prefer that they leave it alone because they would just modernize it and make it worse."

For this to happen, I think the ANA would need a membership campaign drive of some sort to support Congresspeople like Andy Barr who wrote H.R. 2535 which does this.

For all the desire there seems to be for this to happen, I haven't seen anyone get involved in the legislative process to make it happen.

@Zoins.... Interesting... but I call BS on this statement.... "(4) The Mint has estimated that 147,000,000 Americans became collectors of 50 State quarters,..." That statement says that almost half the population decided to collect SHQ's.... I don't believe that. However, that would be a step in the right direction. Cheers, RickO
I think it depends on what you call a collector.
I know people who have saved State quarters from change that don't even know TPGs or proof coins exist.
I do think the vast majority of people who want a change in our designs to remove the Presidents haven't done anything to influence Congress, including signing a petition, which is why I think an organization like the ANA to drive this effort may be needed.
I would love to see the dime redesigned. The problem is that in the current political climate, it will not be possible unless it somehow was tied to "social justice." I am waiting for the next series of forgettable quarter designs. (I like the Washington Crossing the Delaware reverse, but from what I read, it will be a one-year design.) If anything, I would like to go back to allegorical depictions of Liberty on all denominations.
I thought the discussion of politics was forbidden here. Since OliverDePlaise is new I suggest he go to the top of the page and read "PCGS rules and guidelines," particularly item number three. Perhaps others who have been here for a while should review the rules and heed them.

I most wholeheartedly agree.
Going by anecdotal accounts, my guess is that a noticeable proportion of the younger generations don't really know who either of them were. I presume they have heard of them but if asked when they were President or anything they did, would not know much or anything at all.

I think we should go back to the earlier designs. I would strongly support a bill to take all people of circulating coinage, I don't care if their a women, or a civil rights activist, or a founding father, we need lady liberty. Let's get the draped bust design, capped bust, seated ect, Standing Liberty! We want some beauty!
