The chunks of metal under the Indian’s neck are not a good sign. I have never seen die rust like that on a genuine $2.50 Indian quarter eagle.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
It is gone now... Good work... and thanks for the pictures....Without an in hand examination, the detail from the central head dress through the neck, looks very mushy and granular. The Eagle does not have the sharpness of detail usually seen on these pieces. So, based on pictures alone, I would pass on this piece. Cheers, RickO
