Ricko for sure didn't dip this one...

As he would have properly neutralized it prior to submission.

This could be the poster-child why you should be required to take a IQ Test prior to buying a jar of dip :s

That is terrible. I WOULD NOT have something like that in my collection. Think I would plant that in a parking lot for someone to find, already slabbed.

PCGS guarantees their grades. If you send it back to them I'm sure they'll conserve it for you.

Yes it most likely took well more than a decade after being graded to progress turning to this level.

Yes, haven't you learned yet to 'buy the slab, not the coin'?

Here is how it looked in a 2012 Heritage auction

Thanks for the detective work on this! :)

I'm really shocked that whomever owned it over the 9 years since never paid any attention to the fact that it was turning for the worse and starting to look like it ate bath salts.

@AngryTurtle - thanks, that’s fascinating. Even though it was dark in 2012, it has more color than I might have expected from a dip gone bad. It sure looks like “questionable” color in 2012.

To me it is NOT an
ATAPS = Artificial Toning Attempted after Slabing lol :)
The coin was originally slabbed with the "milk" spots on it. The spots are in the same locations but the "spots" seemed to have multiplied and turned a nice coin into a disaster. It might have been an estate find and placed in a secret storage place for years. The PCGS restoration process might not have been known to the owner. I hope PCGS will try to do something to fix the coins appearance.
