GTG: 1895 S Dime

OK, this is my coin but not my series at all. I bought this some years ago and had it graded by our hosts. In hand, it appears IMO very proof like, I am not picking up hairlines and the "mark" on Lib's cheek is toning without metal hit/damage. The field Schmitz is not there on the higher resolution images before compression. I took a couple of pictures of the obverse trying to capture it....It is amazing how there appear hits on photos that then disappear on other pictures and are not seen when in hand (like on the cheek in the second picture)....

It is just a really sweet coin.
Trying to pick apart pixellations for inconsequential marks . . . . or being critical over photog anomalies . . . . well . .you gyys have fun with that.
I love the overall look even though I can't grade it due to the pix. But hey . . .could I grade it WITH good pix ????????
Probably not!!!!! :-)

64- 65 beautiful coin btw
Gorgeous example. Looks like it has skin and does appear to be PL. I had an AU55/58 95-S that was PL many years ago, so I have no doubt some exist. Yours looks like all of a 64 or better.

It's MS+. Not my series but I do recognize a very nice coin when I see one.
Nice coin 63
63 in an old holder from your comments it seems it would be in an older holder. 64 today, very nice.
Congrats.
Yes, that is right, it was 63. Was a bit disappointed at the time as it looked much better than others I'd seen. I got it as I was trying to put together a decent MS 1895 S silver set (never did get the half)...

Numbers are for pricing. Opinion.

When two expeditions of scientists, financed by the Royal Academy, went forth to test my theory of relativity, I was convinced that their conclusions would tally with my hypothesis. I was not surprised when the eclipse of May 29, 1919, confirmed my intuitions. I would have been surprised if I had been wrong. I am enough of the artist to draw freely upon my imagination. I agree. Very nice coin.

I have wondering about re-submitting or cracking out to do so as eventually I may want to sell. I don't know, not that big a deal really and just really liked the coin, so wanted to share - back in the box it goes.

Nice 63.
Way too nice for a 63.

I see the marks on the cheek in both pictures, as well as the lip anomaly ( I cannot tell if that is a hit of a die chip or something else). A nice coin... I initially thought 63... seems most consider it better. Cheers, RickO
Didn’t think I’d get many responses.
Coin is a dime so lip cold sore (lol) doesn’t really show until pieplate size.
I did an attempted blowup and then took obverse pics from host site of MS64, MS64+, MS65:

Even with the lip hit I would think luster and "look" would carry the coin to 64/64+

Numbers are also used to give an indication regarding quality/state of preservation. And I believe that despite flaws in the grading system, its numbers are often/usually less ambiguous than words of the type you listed.

We're eventually going to see grade numbers like 64.3, 64.6, 64.9.
