Wow, I think every denomination is mentioned. Lol Yeah, for me it's the one coin that I see the most. Esp when I do my CRH. The dreaded New Shield Cent. I'm sorry, whenever I open a roll to hunt, the first thing I do is go through the roll to specifically look for any Shields than toss them quickly into the searched jar. Most of the time, half of the roll is the Shield Cent.
And sadly 1/2 of the 1/2 that are shields are already corroding.
I think the Mint should seriously contemplate placing the exciting, W / V75 or 76 now, on the other circulated denominations. Cent, Nickel and Dime. Bring back the rush to find these once again.

After having started this thread, I have come to realize that there are far worse designs than the shield nickel and two-cent piece. So, I guess that...
I'm sick to death of looking at the Washington quarter, the Roosie, the Jefferson nickel, the Lincoln cent
NEVER liked the Sac, SBA, prezzies
Kennedy half
Seated stuff is okay, but why the hell did they have to use the design on ALL denominations?
Is the US Mint now totally devoid of any talent and creativity? Create a cartoonish image on a computer, send it to the computerized engraver, done.
I guess that I really like the shield nickel and two-cent piece after all. I probably wasn't considering any of the modern crap because it passes through my hands every day without a look.

I like the look of the Morgan, but can't warm up to it as a series. I grew up in Northern CA and spent a lot of time in Reno and Tahoe with my parents. Went through thousands of Morgans as a kid. Then came the big release. Just too common during my lifetime to get me excited about collecting them. Have a nice cameo proof in my type set, so again, I do like the artistry.

If I'm remembering right (as it's a repressed memory) there's a pretty substantial mint error on one of these. A dealer hunted me down on the browse floor of a show and severely traumatized me waving it in my face thinking I'd be a buyer

It's almost like a caricature that emphasizes and exaggerates her in a negative way.
It's a shame that they chose to portray her, in such a manner, as I thought that she was fairly attractive, when she was young.

Here are other designs that that I don't recall being named which aren't artistically attractive, though I know many like the coins: Chain and wreath cent, Matron Head cent (worst classic coin), and the 1796-1807 gold.

This was common at the time and long before, both in the US and elsewhere. Same monarch portrait from the smallest to largest denomination. I don't know of any country with as much variety in its' coinage since 1793.

Don't like any of the dollar coins past the Morgans. And the reduced sized coins (SBA, SAC, PRESIDENTIALS, etc) are pathetic. And I think most toned coins should be melted back to salvage value. Too damned many faked tonings!
The Nickel Three Cent piece. The design is just boring. I bought one for my type set to “fill the hole.” It’s a high grade Proof. I once had an 1865 with a lot of clash marks that was more interesting. I should have kept it.
The Barber coins can actually look quite nice in high end Mint State and Proof.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Liberty head gold. I have to buy them for my sets but they just plain suck. The $20 are not bad but the fractional's are awful.

The Susan B Anthony dollar is definetly the ugliest U.S. coin ever minted!

Yes
For me, it has to be the Ike dollar. I like big bold dollars, the Morgan, the Peace, the Eagle.....but the Ike just doesn't seem to have the pizzazz!
I find some if not most modern quarters to be too busy. Sometimes simple is better. JMO.

Presidential dollars.
I've never been a huge fan of Eisenhower Dollars... something about an old bald guy for the design. I think it started with Franklin Halves...
