    It also begs the question as to who's initials were carved into the coin, Augustus or Augusta's?

    Reminds me of the great English author Evelyn Waugh, who was a man with a lady's first name (pronounced EE-vu-lyn). His first wife's first name? Evelyn of course. That had to get confusing...

    By the way, my vote is that the value of the coin would be the same since its provenance is established and the origin of the initials is not.

    We can never know what effect these crudely scratched initials on the edge had on the final price of this coin without an identical coin without the initials scratched on the edge appearing in the same auction and having the same provenance.

    The answer to me would be about the same. I’m still wrapping my head around spending hundreds of thousands or millions for a coin. Wouldn’t be me so the question is academic.

    Absolutely amazing coin. The initials should have been included in the pictures for it, and hopefully they are visible with how the coin is placed in the holder.

    It's hard to tell from the photos if the initials are visible in the slab, but I agree it would be nice to be able to see it.
