By far, my BEST Cherry Pick ever!!! Next to my 1999 Wide AM Cent find on the sidewalk 10 years ago, this is my best find. <3
I realize it's a low grade but I'm sending it in to our Host! The Snow-1 Variety!

Not what I expected to see. Nice find! It may qualify as a low-ball, if it is problem-free. Present low-grade is G4.

That's a very cool RPD. My estimation is that it's easily a $100 or so coin to the specialist.

I was thinking close to double that, $200! Just the "L" variety alone should be around $100, adding the Snow Variety should boost up the value. I hope anyway? We'll see. Lol

I don't think I ever got back to you guys with my results after PCGS got a hold of it?
Here it is in the True View pic.

They gave me a low grade of a AG 03. You were right on hitting that low ball grade. Mine at the moment is all alone on the bottom. With, I might add, a POP 1 designation.

Sorry for all the BIG letters, guys.

They have it priced at $60. I highly think it is almost twice that price, going by the lowest grade for that specific variety and having that POP 1, designation? What do you guys think? Sorry for the late posting.

$60 sounds low for a pop 1 graded lowball.
The 1864 L is one of my favs. Thanks for updating this thread. I think it predates my time on the forum by just a little so I missed it the first time. Great snag and congrats on the pop 1. If you’re going for a lowball set is it a 1/0?

In general, how many variety collectors collect lowballs and how much more are they willing to pay for them? I don't really know the answer to either question.

There is another possibility to consider - that people may view low grade examples of this variety as not being worth enough to send in to PCGS.

In this case, ANACS has certified 5 in AG03:

Very nice find. I love to check a scrum of old IHCs in a pile at a flea market cause they're always kinda discarded in the junk coin cigar box. The hunt continues. Peace Roy

two points: I think it's a really great Cherrypick that shows your diligence and sharp eye --- but --- it seems foolhardy to cut into your good fortune by giving part of it away to PCGS.

look at it like this, the coin is low grade yet easily identifiable for what it is. would you rather have this coin with a net value of where it is now or a net value of where it is now minus about $50?? B)
