Due to this very thread, I am presently again watching "Miller's Crossing" (another Coen brothers film). I haven't watched this film in 10 years but it really is worth the rewatch. Great thread DD! And, for the record, I love both of the movies I suggested earlier at least in part because I read the books prior to watching them. The movies are spot on and terrific!

@bobbybakeriv, Thanks buddy, I've always been a huge movie fan, and with the offseason approaching I am getting prepared for a long summer. There's nothing like a good movie!

I watched this movie recently. It stars Clint Eastwood's son Scott Eastwood. Pretty interesting plot twist in this one. They have you fooled halfway through the movie, and then a huge plot twist that is very shocking.

Platoon is another classic. Tom Berenger plays an awesome villian as Sgt. Barnes, an out of control Sgt. with a nasty scar on his face, one of the all time great movie villains.

    Another all time great villain....

Awesome movie but I hated the ending!

I watched this movie recently, it's called "Shotgun stories". It's about two families that have a violent feud. It was very entertaining.

This is a classic movie, I think this might be where the idea for Terminator came from. If you've seen it, you'll know what I mean.

Westworld was great! Yul Brynner was another great villain in that one for sure.

If you haven't seen Gladiator, you should. Joaquin Phoenix plays one of the all time great movie villains. You also get to see what it really looked like in the ancient Roman times. Ancient Rome was one of the most powerful and biggest empires in history, and you get to see what it would have looked like doing battle in the colisseum. I have always wanted to visit the ancient ruins of the colisseum in Rome.

Hope you and Mrs Dueces enjoy!

I'm not much of an audio tech, and I have a question for the forum.....

I have heard anecdotally that a lot of people have the same problem I have when watching tv, particularly movies, more specifically newer movies. That is, the way they are recorded has me constantly adjusting the volume from high to low and back. I also read that this might be solved using a proper sound bar setup. Any info is appreciate!

It has to do with the surround or Dolby Atmos going from front to back and side to side. Your TV can’t distinguish the difference and tried to adjust on the two little speakers. A decent sound bar will allow you to adjust the voices so you can understand the conversation better and auto adjust for everything else. Now a sound bar with woofer and back speakers allows you to hear theater sounds like a helicopter coming in from off screen from the back. Or a rap on the back door. But be warned, once you go there there’s no coming back.

In my opinion Gladiator has one of the best lines in cinematic history,
delivered by Russell Crowe after being ordered to face the Emperor
and tell him who he is...........................

“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true Emperor Marcus Aurelius, father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife – and I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.” – Maximus

Yes, when Russell Crowe said those lines in Gladiator, that was one of the most awesome moments in movie history. It sends chills up your spine to watch that scene. Meridius coming face to face with the man who killed his family and presumably him, and letting him know, hey, I'm still alive, and I'm coming for you. Brilliant cinema.

Point Break was a non stop action packed movie about an undercover FBI Agent penatrating a gang of adrenaline junkie, thrill seeking, big wave surfing, bank robbers. It will take you on one heck of a ride. If you haven't seen it, I would highly recommend it. Patrick Swayze was great as the villain in this movie.

If you’re looking forward to seeing Wonder Woman 84 I can save you a lot of trouble. Don’t! Watch reruns of Gilligans Island. Much more entertaining and believable. Especially when professor makes a radio out of coconuts but can’t figure out how to patch the boat.
