Opinion on condition.

I found both of these seated coins metal detecting. Both were only 1 inch deep and a few feet apart. I was curious if these are worth grading. I have never had a coin graded and have zero experience with determining coin condition.

The half dime looks like it would get a details grade and would only be worth $50-$60 and cost almost that much to have graded so no on that one. The dime might be worth it but its hard to say if the surfaces would result in a details grade. However even if so it would be worth it I think.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
The half dime looks like it suffered some corrosion/damage. Not surprising for a dug coin. Certainly not worth grading.
The dime has a better chance of straight grading (not a great chance...it kinda resembles a coin that survived a fire) but even it it did it would probably have a market value below the cost to have graded.
Cool find! Same date. Interesting. You might get $20 from a coin shop. On ebay you'll see low ball bids based on precious metal content (around $3).
I'd keep them for the story.

not worth grading...they'd both be "details" grades....BUT...that is a cool find!!
Very cool find! I agree with others who have said not worth grading. Enjoy them as-is and as a good show-and-tell.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Did you clean them?

No. I just sprayed them with water. The dime has what looks like toning to me.
Thank you everyone for the help.
It was a good year for me last year. I found a few coins that are on the rare side and it has me interested in learning more about collecting.
I found an 1802 half cent a 1795 liberty cap large cent with edge writing and an 1869 Indian cent to name a few.
Welcome @DeusXP Nice finds!!
Nothing else to add ... not worth grading IMO, but really kewl finds. They definitely have value, just not enough to warrant the fees of grading.

Ive got all my metal detector finds in 2x2 with info written on the back. Usually I have one of my kids with me. Makes it more special. Those are great finds!
Someone will love them for an album collection, perhaps as type coins. They are not worth slabbing but are a great find.
Save your money.
@DeusXP.... Good advice above.... Also, it would be nice to see pictures of your 1795 Cent....Cheers, RickO
It is a very rough coin. My dad found it metal detecting and got brutal with "cleaning" it.
Just verified it is a 1795 lettered edge.
@DeusXP .... Thank you, Great find. Cheers, RickO
