I didn't expect to see this obverse again. And it may not be around long if a new series commences.

There are at least a couple of recent threads on this topic already — here is the most recently active:

Am I the only one who thinks this quarter is terribly ugly?

I’ll be curious what it looks like in person but I like the rendering.

Do you think they will continue with the S mint mark going forward?

Interesting question. Also, since it's a "standard" quarter, will they be offering rolls and 100-coin bags from the Mint?

If history was being taught any longer, "CROSSING THE DELAWARE" wouldn't be necessary. I'm surprised there isn't a notation of "GEORGE WASHINGTON", with an arrow pointing at him just to be sure.

They don't want him to be confused with the guy on the front of the coin.
    Oh wait . . .

JBK: I don't think Washington is already in the boat. Unless he borrowed Bill & Ted's time machine & is about to run into his other self........... As it's being explained to me, what's being depicted here is an early version of WaterUberX (which, unfortunately, never made much of a splash on Wall Street) coming to pick him and maybe a few additional Colonial soldiers up at the bank to take them across the river for a rave taking place in NJ involving a few hundred Hessians or Prussians or something like that. (I really wish I'd paid a bit more attention during History class....). But don't quote me on that. ;)

Question: Should this quarter be considered part of the Washington quarter set that commenced in 1932?

Granted the reverse is different, but so was the Bicentennial reverse and those quarters are considered to be part of that set.

@Overdate .... I believe this will/is considered part of the Washington quarter set... as will subsequent issues until the obverse is changed eliminating Washington's portrait. JMO... Cheers, RickO
