How many coin shows did you attend in 2020?

goldengolden Posts: 10,494 ✭✭✭✭✭

Around Thanksgiving of every year I make a list of the coin shows that I plan to attend in the coming year. For 2020 I had 12 shows on my list. I attended 5 shows this year. 5 shows were cancelled, our daughter was sick during one show and I was concerned about civil unrest during another. That is the fewest number of shows that I have attended in several decades.

For 2021 I have 11shows on my list. With the FUN show already cancelled I am down to 10 shows before the year starts.

How many shows did you attend in 2020?

I attended 3--all small local shows. I normally attend at least 1 national show and another regional.

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

I attended 7 Texas shows representing ANACS in 2020. That's down 5 from the 12 I attended for ANACS in 2019.

Here are the shows I set up at this year: FUN, Charlotte CC Show, Spartanburg, SC, Atlanta ANA, TSNS Chattanooga, That was in the beginning of March, fast forward to the last show I did in August, the BRNA in Dalton, Ga.

2021 is going to be quite different. I was only planning on setting up at FUN and the 2 Dalton, Ga. shows. Now that FUN is cancelled I am down to 2. I will most likely walk a few other shows, time will tell.

Usually 1 big and 2 small shows a year but 0 in 2020. I always go to the shows with a list in mind of what I would like to get but leaving the show with something else in my backpack or pockets :)

I attended one large local show in February. I went there to sell the Canadian coins I had gotten from Coinstar machines. I look for a dealer from Canada and offer him the coins for half face value in US and was successful in selling the lot.

This is the 1st year I haven't set up at the Atlanta Monthly show in 25 years! The show just hasn't been productive as 99% of buyers are not looking for nice collector coins. It's been that way for a few years. That along with the last statement following is why I decided to stop setting up at the show and most others I usually do. I kept setting up because I kindda got my start at that show. Show conflicts were the reason I missed the 1st couple, Covid the next, and then suffering through caring for my Mom at home through Hospice.

Hope to see you again at the next Dalton show!

FUN and two small shows within an hour away.
I still have the flyer for the next small show I was planning on attending. It was to be on March 29 but things were locked down by then. 😥

I only went to two shows last year, and I sorely miss attending shows. FUN, Long Beach, and the ANA Phoenix shows have been officially cancelled, and I am guessing Baltimore and Central States will be cancelled as well. Honestly and sadly, I doubt there will be any major shows until next summer.
