Yep, I have a Fever

No, not coronavirus ... thank God!
There are times when things show themselves and you cannot ignore them. For me it seems, the bigger (and often most rewarding) moments seem to happen when I must actually step a little (or a lot) out of my comfort zone. That has been happening a lot lately, not just in coins.
This being a coin forum however, I wanted to share the latest of those situations on a new arrival that flew in yesterday. After some study and consideration I decided am keeping her, and am very happy she came my way.
In this, I realize I have been stricken with a fever that has started to take over, but as Sheryl Crow once penned and sang, "If it makes you happy ..."
Guess the grade (it’s an older NGC holder, not a Fatty though), your thoughts and opinions, whatever you want to share.

1820...one of my favorite dates.
Todd, you just keep amazing me with the eye appealing bust halves you’re picking up lately, and this one is right up there.
Incredible skin and originality on this beauty. I’m gonna guess AU55 and I’m pretty certain it would cross to PCGS at the same grade, if that is something you’re considering.
The late die state has a neat die crack that crosses above the date and goes towards the lower right stars.
Wonderful pick up...congrats!
Dave
great coin, I am going conservative at 53.
Congrats on your fever

I'm in the au58 camp as well
Wonderful coin, I vote 55.
Wow! Really nice. I think based on luster I could see 53 to 58. Regardless, I'd be very happy to own it.

PS:
Nice AU55.
58+
I have heard that 'bust half fever' is incurable, but can be treated with regular infusions of new bust halves.
Nice coin... looks 55 - 58.... Cheers, RickO
I would grade it a 58, no doubt.

Nice!

Great coin! Looks 55 to me too. I love this variety and this year.
For the entire year the Mint used just eight die marriages. And produced...
Some researchers believe the sq 2 overdate is actually an 1820/19/18, based on microscopic image overlays.
As Dave points out the later die state of Todd's O.103 shows a stunning die crack above the date and to the stars on the right. An even later die state shows another crack developing on the reverse, above the denomination. Probably R5.
Nice ... when your temperature get up to 100 (die marriages, that is), you will have to see one of the doctors in the BHNC (Bust Half Nut Clinic)!
Nice coin ... keep it up!
I'm in at 55.
See http://www.doubledimes.com for a free online reference for US twenty-cent pieces
Count me as a 55 also
That is a very nice and expensive bustie.
Bust half fever is incurable but can be treated.
I suggest purchasing a copy of Edgar Souders’ Bust Half Fever, second edition. A GREAT primer on these halves!
Also, membership in the Bust Half Nut Club is a blast! Any number of us can help when you get close to the 100 die marriage level.
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
I just saw this coin in hand and it is spectacular.
Lance.
So when's the reveal. I think this is the tightest consensus of grading opinions I have ever seen on a guess the grade!
The reveal is now ...
... and thank you all for all the feedback and comments.
I've actually been out and away, and as mentioned above, Lance got to see this coin in hand last night. He was gracious enough to invite me over for dinner and we shared a good bottle of wine, a wonderful dinner and some back and forth banter about coins and life. Since this had been a new arrival, I decided to bring it along. I also got to see a few of his beauties'.
For what it's worth Lance has a wonderful collection, he and his wife were very gracious to me, and I really enjoyed the time we got to spend together.
The coin is in an AU58 holder, and I feel good about it crossing at some point. I am of the mind set it's a 55 to a 58, no more, no less.
