Coin related. Since the Thanksgiving holiday is upon us...

joeykoinsjoeykoins Posts: 17,564 ✭✭✭✭✭

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Being coin related only. What are you MOST thankful for? Coin related now. What I am MOST thankful for is to find a coin shop owner willing and allowing me to daily search for varieties/errors in her inventory. More than half of my variety collection came from her shop. And here's the kicker, she knows this! This is what I'm the most thankful for in this coin hobby. How about you guys? Thanks :)

    Ah, dude! What an awesome thing to say. Thank you. Yes, you're right though about most of the people here. Generous and very helpful. Including you my friend. Thank you for evermore. Keep on hunting!

    I've met lots of great people over the years who have helped me build my collection, given me opportunities to find a business niche that has served me well and supported endeavors and interests including and beyond coins, and beyond all that, become good friends. I've gone to many shows where I've bought nothing, but left more than satisfied having had the chance to catch up with friends. In short, the coins are enjoyable, but the people have made the difference.

    Good point, airplanenut. Well said. When you really think of this silly hobby. Think of it, it really boils down to, one person you bought the coin from, than eventually where the coin ends up. Into what person's hand. Whether it's another buyer or a future family member.

    Im thankful that im still in business thru the good times and bad. Years ago, I used to stop and visit shops in my business travels and think, how nice would it be to sit around a shop all day and BS. Well, thats what I do. My shop is not the conventional old style coin shop with rows of inventory, as 1 in my area, it wouldnt sell, 2nd, I mostly sell the stuff on ebay or auctions. But I open up and help folks coming in to sell, and all during the day, lots of friends and customer stop by to converse. Not getting rich , but doing fine and loving it.

    Most of all, I'm thankful for all the friends I've made over the past 60 years. Much more than the coins, they have made the journey great.

    Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

    I'm thankful for the friends & connections I've made over the years here, who have helped me expand both our family's collections as well as (even MORE so) our coin knowledge base. I joined at a time when my employer had us "management" folks working practically round-the-clock with "busy-work" during one of several strikes, and had time on my hands. Kept me sane while also re-starting my collecting that had lain dormant for many years. More recently, having the Forum to turn to has once again kept me (relatively) sane as my family & I deal with these unprecedented pandemic times. Here's hoping everyone stays well & safe, and is able to spend the holiday either physically or virtually with their loved ones!

    What I posted in my OP. I can easily chosen a few more "thankful thoughts" but the one I chose earlier was the most thankful one. Of course I couldn't leave out the fact of me being thankful for even maintaining a job and/or income to keep my coin hobby active! Without money coming in, it's pretty difficult to spend money where you don't have that luxury to do so. I think eating, paying your bill's and your health and family's care should be ones priority. Also, not to leave out my dealer friend who taught me all I know about this crazy hobby. Esp. In varieties. I'm most certainly thankful. Then lastly, I can't exclude my better half. Her support most certainly helps. Instead of a wife that would fight, not literally, but to just give me a hard time when I spend our money on these beautiful coins and such. Thank you, dear! Lol
    One more thing... I do want to thank all you guys that help me with the vast info on a coin/s. And also support me when someone bickers with me on a certain subject or thread of mine. And for even the one that come on too strong but really don't realize they are. I thank you guy's.
    HAPPY THANKSGIVING Be safe and love your loved ones. ♥️

    This afternoon, on my way to work, I decided to stop at my favorite B+M shop. The one where I am most thankful for. To show my appreciation and "thankfulness",
    I went out and bought the most chocolatey cake humanely possible. The same one we had for my daughter's birthday. Pictured here;

    She really liked that! Let's see, a woman, CHOCOLATE! LOL. She kept thanking me, while I kept thanking her. Lol.
    Anyway, she was closing up early to start her cooking, she said. I was the last customer so when I was checking out with my 5 small items. You never guess what she said? Yep, she placed my Jefferson's in a envelope and said "No Charge", have a Happy Thanksgiving. I tried to talk her out of it but she wouldn't budge. See what I mean. This is why I chose her, being my MOST thankful for. I don't deserve this, thank you, Jesus. <3

    Hopefully, I'll continue me being thankful by maybe finally finding something worthy? Long weekend, I figure, why not?

    I am most thankful for the love and support from my wife and daughter both in life and my numismatic sickness...
