Several decades ago I started a date run of these. I had several nice coins. After awhile I lost interest and sold all except the best one.

@TwoKopeiki it seems to me that if you mention Portraits or Cap and Rays there are many people collecting, but surprised of the low number of Pillars. Manly when those coins are quite popular around the world.

Certainly MS examples can run much higher. Conversely, fairly nice examples of portrait and cap and ray 8 reales can be obtained for a more reasonable price point for average collectors. JMO

To me also, apart of the price, is when buy them raw, it can be a pain, on the three that I have bougth in the past and was able to returned, were fake, I just saw one this past weekend, the condition was not too good, so I simple passed.

That 1739 should be checked to see if it's a contemporary counterfeit -- then it might have some value.
