How are PCGS CoinFacts example/reference coins selected?

P0CKETCHANGEP0CKETCHANGE Posts: 3,028 ✭✭✭✭✭

Several coins that I own are featured as grading examples in PCGS CoinFacts, including a $1k+ coin and a sub $50 one.

How are these coins chosen and is there any added "cachet" for a coin that appears there?

An example of the CoinFacts page I am referring to

Basically if they are in a users registry, PCGS will display the images in Coinfacts. Regrettably, many more images used to be available. I imagine from there the top graded coins are then slotted in to the CoinFacts page.

Ah, you're right @Boosibri — now that I look, it seems a significant number of my TrueView coins in my PCGS Registry are in fact listed as example coins. And here I thought my coins were just extra special!

Currently it is the top 3 by grade, plus any additional that are in Registry Sets.

@P0CKETCHANGE ... Your coins are special... Just the fact they were selected indicates their status. Cheers, RickO
