When I was a kid we had to tell people Susan B Anthony coins were dollars and not quarters!

Thanks guys. 16d Merc was the only one I couldn’t find in circulation. It took years and they are mostly junk silver, but I enjoyed it.
I put several Jeff sets together decades ago but could never find the'50-D.

Impressive. Had the same albums that I put together in the mid 60's. All 100% complete ( except the Mercurys ) missing several in that set. Lincoln album also missing several. Franklins ( 2 sets ) also 100%. I still have them all.

Very impressive. As a kid I could never afford to take quarters out of circulation. That was almost a movie and treats!
I put together several roll sets of Jeff's back around 78- 83. Never found the first 50d.

I did find a 1909-S VDB cent in a roll from a bank thou. I never found any 1921 mercs or 1931-d or s.
I did not even know albums existed when I was a kid. My coins were saved in a cigar box. And I never did a date/mm run back then. Just saved 'special' coins. A quarter was the admission to the Saturday matinee at the theater. So change was scarce... Lawn mowing, snow shoveling, paper route, pulling poison ivy for people. Cheers, RickO
I kept them in two baby food jars in a little file box. Eventually I put a pad lock on it, LOL...
I guess I was lucky. Found two 50-D Jeff's within a month of each other. Probably my only " rare " circ. finds.
I never found a 32-S Washington, a 50-D nickel or a 16-D dime. Many of the early Mercuries I did find were more worn than what you found.

I remember finding a 50-d nickel as a grade school milk monitor in the 70's. Finished my set with the find.
Nice, and a fun task. It’s fun pulling out old albums you haven’t seen in a while.
That and finding some nice varieties you overlooked and/or didn't know about before.
It would still be nice to be getting some of the older Jefferson's as well

skier07, Agree very strongly with your statement. I found 2 within a month or so, this was in the late 60's. Haven't found one since. And I look all my coinage before I roll and take to the bank. Heck, I've found more 38 & 39 mm Jeffs than 50 D's.
Beautiful sets, dude! Don't want to criticize but in the Mercury Set, maybe you'll want to upgrade the only stand out in the set? The 1919s? Lol. Just a suggestion. Still awesome sets. More than I can say I have. Cool.

Before Coins
When I was born the Dead Sea wasn’t even sick.
Actually the 19s is one of the better ones. The photos are lousy and the coin didn’t “tone out” to show the contrast like most of the others.
I pulled a lot of Jefferson nickels from circulation for my set too. I had to purchase a few key's, and some of the silver to complete the set back in 1983-84 when I was approaching 10 years young.
Coin collecting took a long hiatus after that, as I was drawn into the baseball card frenzy of the mid '80's to early '90's.
No loss though. I was bit by the collector bug. Settled in coins, and who knows where one will finish when it's all over.
The things to do while we walk across the stepping stones in this journey, and not knowing which one will slip us up. I guess we should all just enjoy the search for whatever we endeavor before we take that final splash.
Hopefully a cool one, so collect wisely!
My first 'coin collection' (back in 1965) was a few old very worn silver Canadian coins scotch taped in a paper notebook.
