Is this the ultimate insult to commems?
I was doing my homework before my first visit to a CoinStar machine....

Well, at least they have company with earthworms!
I mean, I understand why they don’t accept earthworms and cat litter, but no commems?

They specifically are calling out 1943 US pennies. It's more of an insult to them I think!
It does appear that they will accept slugs and dirty diapers unless I'm reading this wrong.
Condoms are good, though.

But Eisenhower copper-nickel clad dollars are OK?
Great. I was banking on a sweet retirement with my human teeth collection. Don't think I've forgotten about you either Tooth Fairy. We had a sweet deal at a buck a pop when I was little.

Which kind of “gold fish” are they excluding?
That was a sweet deal. I only got a penny.
I'll stop dropping all that crap in CoinStar machines when they start using bulleted lists.
Seems like the list would be shorter if they just listed what is allowed.

Looks like the commems are in good company.

At least it's alphabetized.

I want to put a 1943 steel cent into a roll-a-cent souvenir machine and locked it up 😩
Don't say nothing about dropping your Glock in there after you hold up the candy store.
They missed teeth. I have seen teeth on the counter of the Coinstar before.
My 1866 Philly Mint Set
Absolutely. All copper-nickel clad coins are acceptable. They just don't want to mess with that silver crap.
Orange ones I heard
The live ones or the snack crackers?
I think they’ve found most if not all of that stuff in their machines, and that’s how they compiled the list.

Does that mean that Coinstar rejects the clad Bicentennial commemorative coins?

Looks like it could double as a list of the most frequently offered items on Ebay.

Overall, I'd say how can they be insulted if they are in the company of 1943 cents and silver dollars!
Or another way, is this an insult to cents and silver dollars?
Had to manually turn in my Pan PAC slugs when they wouldn’t go through the darn machine.
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
Rats! Now I'm going to have to find something else to do with my POGs.
On the bright side, I turned $50 face in pennies and nickels into two cases of coconut water. So now I have an exit plan!

this is how i am left after this thread...
Well, I have found foreign coins, silver coins, a pull tab ring and a safety pin in the reject slot....So I guess all those other things must have stayed inside the machine.... I am thinking about getting the job as the coinstar machine attendant for this area....
Must be a lot of good stuff found when the machine is opened. Cheers, RickO
A not so funny coinstar story if you don't mind. I was divesting myself of a jar of coins and I was emptying the jar into the local coinstar machine. I heard something hit the reject path but nothing came out into the tray. It happened twice more (who knew small washers would be rejected). I felt up inside the reject slot and could barely feel tissue paper. I had my stamp tongs with me (pretty slender and long) and was able to reach up and snag the tissue. Pulled it and about 6 dollars worth of silver change dropped into the bin. Someone had stuffed tissue up the slot to block it and hold back the rejects. I also got my washers back. I think that was a crappy thing for someone to do but I took what they had held back and tossed their tissue. (Don't ask why I carry stamp tongs around, but they are very useful day to day)
I wonder how the person who compiles this list answers the question, "What's your job at CoinStar?"

I don't think they had your original roll of Antietams in mind when they made that list
You do realize, don't you, that you have just given many people ideas........
Can you imagine what gets in there from change jars! I’m sure they have seen everything

CaptHenway, that's why I carry my stamp tongs. I've seen people stuff the reject chute on soda machines and candy machines and once (I was a telephone man for Southern Bell) try to stuff the chute on a pay phone (I'm also pretty old so most people don't know what a pay phone is). There will always be nefarious people out and about, trying their luck at cheating their fellow man.
