TPG using PCGS lookalike slabs

There's a TPG out there, ACGA, that uses PCGS-like slabs. At least they have their own logo in the lower right.

ACGA is Authoritative Coin Grading Agency.

Interestingly, their website indicates copyright dates of 2007-2012 so I wonder if they are still active.

    Re ACGA, the internet archive shows them from 2013 (copyrights does say 2007-2012). It looks like they primarily grade Chinese coins.

    The cert# still verifies so they have at least the web and database still up, likely are still in business.

    They also have NGC-style holders.

    Not sure I would trust their verification skills - one of the coins I bought in their slab was attributed to Tibet, it's actually Afganistan.

    don't believe PCGS manufactures their own slabs. Likely outsourced to same company as slabs in OP.

    PCGS has slabs manufactured for them, however they own the molds and use a proprietary blend of plastic, so it should be unique to them. Which is not to say there couldn't be "ghost shift" slabs made. And it's easy to make something that looks closely like the PCGS slab.

    That makes two TPG's I have not seen....ACGA and TCGS....I have to get out more.... :D Not likely to help in this little town....I miss the big (and little, but frequent) coin shows in the PNW... For me, this forum is my coin show...Cheers, RickO

    More likely just plain old Chinese counterfeit of the PCGS patent protected slabs. Wouldn't be the first time.
