I am bored with all this COVID-19 thing and i am sure many others as well. That means its time to buy a coin. Snag this "most likely unique" 1802 Draped Bust Dime 10% Off Center. Its a JR-4 for those that follow die marriages. I have never seen an 1802 Draped Bust Dime that was off center. So I am sharing my NP with my message board friends. Thoughts?

My thought is that it is unique and special. Like many others have said, I have not seen one before....may be a real rarity. Cheers, RickO
Thanks all for the nice comments. I really got to do some more research on this coin. what's especially exciting for me is I was having a tough time locating a 1802 dime for my primary set but this came along so I'm glad i got an 1802. Tough date.
That is a great Draped Bust dime off-center error. All Draped Bust striking errors are rare. The 1802 dime is tough to find without issues, as are all the 1800-1804 dime years.
There is one other 1802 dime striking error that I am aware of, plated on page 132 of America's Silver Coinage 1794-1891 in the Subjack and Lovejoy article "Early Dimes, 1796-1837." It is a very rare JR-3 that was double struck, the first strike being "about 30 degrees off line" and the second strike was centered, resulting in the date that reads 18028.

Now there's something you don't see every day (or even decade)! Interesting that it saw as much circulation as it did. I guess back then, saving interesting coins wasn't at the forefront of anyone's mind.
