You couldn't find any for quite a few years at shows even as low as MS63 as 2 dealers were hoarding them. That chase was released back into the wild, but nothing spectacular came out of the hundreds tucked away.

Despite all the talk of a depressed market (coins in general, commems specifically), prices on the Gettysburg remain high....and I am not referencing the tarnished sunset specials.... I keep looking for the supposedly cheap commems, but seems those opportunities are either imaginary or highly secret. Cheers, RickO

@Zoins i don’t understand the infatuation with TVs when such excellent pics are provided, especially if they end up being more accurate than the hypothetical TVs (speculative, I know, but often true).

Sure, as long as you consider filling out the application, mailing the coin, and paying the fees "trivial".

@Zoins....I am not looking for a specific grade, and when presented with an opportunity I will consider the price.

TrueViews, Heritage and Stack's photos are easy to find and research. GC now as well but they have some strange restrictions on search I'm still getting used to.

Great photos like the ones here can often only be found posted on the seller's site while the listing is active or in random forum posts like this one.

I've been thinking it would be great to have a site where people can upload photos by PCGS cert number so we can collect photos in an easy to find way.

The 1800 and 1803/2 Half-Eagles are not so slouchy either. Tremendously nice color on those. They're both gone.

Those are both beautiful coins but if I was going to spend that kind of money I would prefer an 18th century one. I probably would have to pony up a few more dollars and compromise a little on the grade but I love the neatness factor of a coin made in the 1700’s.

If you look up the cert #, it will indicate if the coin is in someone's Registry. If you then go there, and the owner has attached photos to the coin in question, you can view them. That seems a lot more likely a scenario than assuming the owner went to (some) third party site to upload photos. IMHO, of course.

EDIT: The cert lookup page will also sometimes have links to previous auctions of the coin, where additional photos may be viewed.
