Should your ability to post threads here be based on your eBay reputation?

abcde12345abcde12345 Posts: 3,404 ✭✭✭✭✭

For example, if you are caught getting a bad feedback report from a buyer, should you be blocked from posting here? What if your charge too much for postage? I know I have flawless, perfect stellar feedback (although I don't sell on eBay), so I am safe. What say you?

The logistics of reviewing every membership application based on your criteria would be extremely time consuming. Also, people applying for membership here may not want to reveal their eBay name for security reasons.

Ummm.... sure. And also a criminal check, financial record, credit score, political stance, your postings on other social media, etc. etc.

This is a coin forum.... where we get together and discuss coin issues, etc. Has nothing to do with ebay, though that is a popular topic at times. While the mods do some policing to ensure someone does not step over the line (political, personal attacks, etc.); but only in regards to the overall context that this is a coin/collectors forum.

I say it’s a great idea. We can also set up some arbitration panels to determine if the bad feedback was justified, whether previous good feedback was legitimate, what amount of postage is acceptable, how fast shipping needs to be, and so on.😉

By the way, I’ve seen numerous eBay sellers with stellar feedback, who sell garbage (including counterfeits) advertised as gems, who lie about the source of the coins and who have hijacked legitimate accounts.

Not only no, but hell no. What's the obsession with perfect feedback? When I decide to buy or not buy from a seller i read the feedback, and the seller's response. I can tell what's due to bad service and what's due to an idiot buyer. We live in a world full of other people, some good, some bad, some intelligent, some dumber than shit. It's on each of us to wade through it and make our way.

Yes ;) . We could then file fraudulent SNAD claims to vote people off the forums in true eBay spirit.

    (I’m obviously being facetious.)

It's working well for the Chinese. Some are not allowed to travel outside of their district if their social score is too low.
Maybe we can even incorporate Facebook postings to determine if a member here is more or less worthy to continue posting threads.
