On May 15, Virginia leaders declared independence from Britain, and the radical Virginia Seal was designed by George Wythe, George Mason, Richard Henry Lee and engraved on Virginia paper money by Robert Scot:

The centennial medals still remain in their original frame, unopened. I guess that means there are mint state?😇
Lots of colonial currency printed in 1776, but only in New York was it printed by a Tory Loyalist who was against independence - Hugh Gaine printed this and even NYC notes into the 1790's despite his loyalty to the British crown. Guess business and making money trumped politics.
