Just a design for the U.S. bicentennial....not rare there were millions minted.
Made in 1975 and 1976 (same dates on coin used in both years) to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the USA.
Yours had a D under the portrait - minted in Denver, Colorado

Interestingly I just got one of those in change yesterday from AutoZone.
Like the others have said, bicentennial issue, worth 50 cents.
