Which collection would you be more happy with?
Remember, if you decide on only 5 coins, you are not allowed to have anymore in your collection. Then, on the other hand, if you choose only 1000 coins, you cannot have any coin exceed or less than $500. Thank guy's! This poll is anonymous.

I'll take 5, thank you.
Five would never satiate my coin hunger nor would I ever be able to put together a meaningful set.

Less is more. The five coins would be easier to store and of a higher quality/rarity.
We all know which choice would bring the FUN factor! As for me, I would easily choose the 1000.

If I could only have the same 5 coins forever, I'd probably sell and move on to another hobby.
I like coins far too much to just have 5 coins, regardless of the value.
Yes, the average price per coin would only be $500 but nothing states that you can't have some $10,000-$15000 coins mixed in with $50-$100 coins. If that is the case; I would definitely stick to the 1000.

1000 no doubt. 5coins is just too few to say I’m collecting or interested. 5 sports cars, that’s a collection. 5 coins is just part of your portfolio.

No, I did explain you can't exceed the $500 per coin.

I would be in my 7th heaven with the 5.
As much as it would be hard to stay under $500. for everything if I had 500.k in coins, I think I would rather have 1000 coins than just 5.

A collection of 5 classic sports cars might work for me, but not coins.
I didn't notice the $500 limit on the 1,000. I vote neither, I would quickly become bored either way.
Imagine what kind of Morgan Dollar set one can achieve? WOW! I do realize you won't be able to insert EVERY Morgan. Esp. the famous 1895! Still a awesome thought, right?
Including all the CC's.

Apparently I just broke the tie with my choice of 5 coins.
I would prefer 50 coins valued at $10,000 each. Best of both worlds.
Neither of your choices.
No question, 1000. 5 would get boring too quickly. And more options for selling if I ever sold something.
If I could pick the five, Oh Yeah!
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
I’d have 800 coins worth $10 and a darn nice US type set with around 200 coins that ate up the rest of the budget.
There would be room in there for a small eagle half dollar and the early US gold issues too.
The great thing about this choice is that the Top 4 coins can be the same in both sets
Interesting question. I can't think of any set I would be really happy with if no coin the set could exceed $500, so I'll go for the Big Five.

Just think, if you choose the 1000. One can actually have 1000 different "HIGH GRADED" PCGS coins of various denominations and series. How exciting would that be?

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Just saw this. I'm not sure if this was added later. If every coin had to be worth exactly $500, that's going to be a very limited collection.
This makes this an unrealistic choice for me since that would be a very contrived collection.
Knowing that I really enjoy studying every coin in my collection, a thousand coins is better. Thank you very much. Peace Roy

The 1000 of course. More coin to enjoy. A good mix of coin makes me happy
I would opt for the 1000 coins....I like a lot of coins, so five would not satisfy my coin hunger. Cheers, RickO
I didn't vote since I don't like either option. Somewhere in the middle of these two options are a better choice for me.

I wouldn't want to have that much money tied up in coins or any other collectible.
Show me the coins first. I have seen 5- and 6-figure coins that had little or modest eye appeal. This said, I don't think $500 will buy anything really interesting (and would exclude any decent, uncirculated early copper or pre-1933 gold). I would choose neither, and look the gift horse in the mouth.

5? No variety, little history, no enjoyment.
1,000 - Because I would have 995 more chances of a price increase.
The 1000 coin option would allow collecting complete series of coins which has more appeal to me. Then crack them and put them in an album

11 $5000 coins, 26 $700 ones, 3 $200 ones, 23 $50 ones, 64 $37.50 ones, a $10,000 one, 12 $35 ones, 73........

..... now I'm lost.
Really? You could probably end up with an early $5 gold type set perhaps foregoing the first issue.
Yep, you left out the maids a weeping, …, and a partridge. I don't think there will be enough left over for 5 golden rings, however.

1,000 coins is a liability. What you think of as an asset is actually a future liability...think about all the work to dispose of that junk.

1000 is far too many ( 250 sounds about right) and the "each coin must cost exactly $500" is a weird condition for this thought experiment...

Let's meet in the middle, or left of middle. I'd rather have 175 coins for that amount. Simply put, with 1,000 coins, you've worked yourself into an occupation.

I'd be happier with 20 than 5 but I lean toward the 5 side of the spectrum.
less is a lot less than more.
1000 Pcgs coins a super inventory for shows. 2 cases of slabs stacked 6 deep. It all ads up whether big ticket or not. Average of $500 a coin. Some above average some not.
