Are you getting tired of viewing your coin from your camera screen.....

in2Coinsin2Coins Posts: 365 ✭✭✭✭✭

behind your copy stand if you're not tethered to a monitor? I am!!

So, I decided to create a different setup that is so much easier to see/view from your camera screen instead of going behind your copy stand or tilting your head.

My setup below.....Lets see yours!!!

L-Shape Bracket
Novoflex Focusing Rail
Nikon D800
Nikkor Micro PC 85mm Tilt & Shift
20mm Extension Tube (sometimes 36mm)
1.4x Mag
BESELER Copy Stand
2x Kaiser Halogen Lights
2x OTT Lights

Check it out!

First shot using the new setup.....

Nice picture. Re: the camera setup, maybe I am missing something... how do you view the screen with the level bubble on it? What is different / better vs any other copy stand setup?

My camera is always tethered to my monitor, so no need,
in terms of adjusting lighting or position of the coin.
And pretty much all the shooting controls are in the LiveView software,
so I don't need to see the camera display for those.
I'm also lucky because I shoot half dimes, so my camera is not very high up on the copy stand!

I remove the bubble level :) . That is only to show how to level each components.

Normal setup on copy stand is ur always behind the copy stand just like the photo below. My new setup is the camera being rotated 90 deg CCW. This way, I stay on one side without moving around or tilting my head...

I get it now. I haven't even realized this was a problem, but I guess having the camera sideways does look easier. Nice setup!

I just use TrueView, it eliminates the HOURS spent trying for perfection, the $$$$$ spent on equipment over-and-over-and-over again, the results are stellar and consistent..........................and I only have to leave the house once.

    Very nice set-ups.
If I can take pictures and post them without bad feed back on this forum ... and sell on eBay I'll be happy.

If I did a lot of selling on eBay, I would make the investment on a nice set up. Being just a gold bug I cannot justify the purchase. But I guess that’s why a lot of my pictures look like they were taken with a potato.

While I understand the trouble to get the picture right, the cost for me is cheaper than $10 true views with over 567 cents in one set. Also, while I like true views - they are always a bit too juiced when it comes to cents.

I can’t imagine a DSLR camera setup any simpler than mine- a System-3 with built in 75mm Apo Rodagon D 1:1 duplication lens. I use 3 Jansjo lights.

    My set up is simple.

You take your coins to McDonald's? Ever get mixed up when buying a cup of coffee with spare coin change? lol!
