I am not surprised... Never thought it would actually happen. I think most major shows will just be moved to 2021... Being in the risky age group, I will avoid all large gatherings for the next six months...maybe longer. Not worth the risk. Cheers, RickO

I believe most shows - or large group gatherings of any type - will be cancelled for most of the year. Too much is unpredictable at this time. It is strange to see though, since this is the first time such restrictions have been imposed on our nation. Cheers, RickO

What a lousy communication by the ANA. Not a single mention of the health and safety of their members, staff, and volunteers. Only that the convention was cancelled because "Our team has been in nearly daily conversations with the convention center, but it's become evident that they are unable to fulfill their contractual obligations."

I signed up for a 5-year membership for about $85 some months ago, now I'm starting to regret even spending that much.

"But based on our analysis and review of all relevant information – the diminished show experience for attendees, health and safety issues, security, financial impact and the significant unknown outside variables"

I can see I was misunderstood.
    I'll try again.
(no, I won't try teasing TSA agents lol)
I have free airfare and free nights in Vegas available. The email telling me that also informed me that all the casino employees will be wearing masks.
That is a non-starter for me and I wear a mask anytime I'm in public with the exception of my walks where I always give other walkers plenty of space.
Perhaps I'll come around as this pandemic wears on so interminably.

A big ouch on the poor souls that have to wear a mask in their work for long stretches.

Now riding the swell in PM's and surf.

Least shocking news of the day, all the other shows have fallen so far. The part where they are trying to move the venue seems like the equivalent of watching a 100-foot tsunami from a 20-foot sand dune instead from the beach itself. SMDH.

No need to worry, PCGS will be hosting an alternative show as a replacement, for those who still want to attend a coin show. All is good.

“If the August ANA World’s Fair of Money in Pittsburgh, the September Long Beach Expo, and/or the November Whitman Winter Expo in Baltimore are cancelled, PCGS will plan to host smaller, substitute PCGS Members Only Shows during their originally scheduled dates.”

    I agree!

I suspect most of the persons that participate on the Forums are PCGS Members. That being said, anyone who is not a member would not be allowed in. Perhaps, that may be a selling point for PCGS to recruit more members! After attending a number of the PCGS Members Shows, PCGS truly puts on top notch services during those shows. Free food and beverages, security right on site in the show area, a relaxed atmosphere to speak with dealers and do some business, and also on-site grading!

I can't get excited about any event where everyone is wearing masks.
    That's just me.
It would be for me a very alien, un-fun experience.

Off-topic, I know, but I had to show a little sense of humor during these gloomy times. The first time I wore a mask to pick up a prescription refill at my pharmacy, when they opened up the doors and saw me, I said "Trick or treat!" :-)

Another funny with mask wearing. One can talk to themselves in a crowd and no one knows it's you. They all look around. Is it him or him or him.

I saw this. But it is not a quote from the ANA. If you read the communication closely, it is a statement from PAN, not the ANA. It appears ANA's stance is something along the lines of "everyone has conspired against us to cancel this show". Pathetic.

That statement is IN THE ANA's STATEMENT! Even if it wasn't an ANA employee that was quoted, the ANA chose to include it. The ANA doesn't need to reiterate everything they've already included just so you know they think it, too.

Rescheduling is also a pathetic joke. It's the same problem - most first-rate venues don't want us. We don't sell through enough room nights and banquet meals. It also needs to be city/state without a tax on numismatic items and without a union problem in the hall. And it needs to be a transportation hub.

I guess we could pitch a tent along a highway and do it first Monday style... https://www.firstmondaycanton.com/
