What’s the oldest dated coin you’ve received in change this century?

To make this a bit more of a level playing field, only coins received in change since 2000.
The oldest I’ve gotten so far is a 1935 buffalo followed by several 1938 Jeffs. The first I got from a vending machine at work surprisingly.

A worn 1918 Lincoln cent. That was still a good surprise
A 1900 cent.

No clue, haven't looked at my change since about 1965.
A 1937 buffalo, which was quite a surprise as I have never gotten one in change ever and I worked as a cashier in the 1980s
Probably a 1940s cent, so you all have me beat by plenty.
My oldest ever though was an 1880s IHC though, followed by a 1909 VDB but that was in the 1980s.
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
Some cool finds everyone. Back in the 90s I used to find lots of jeffs from the 40s and 50s. Even a 39d. My brother got a beat up ‘45 merc in change. Some wheats from the 30s and up but not much special. Still fun, though. And an inexpensive way to have fun.
While going through a bank box (does this qualify) I found a 1920 wheat cent. How ironic, 100 yrs. Old. That's my oldest. Now in change like you first mentioned, probably also a wheat cent too? 1934 I recall.

Searching through bank rolls - 1858 FE cents, in change a 1918 cent.
In change ... a 1917 Lincoln cent in excellent shape.
The oldest coins I've pulled from circulation since 2000 have all been Jefferson Nickels: 1938, 1939, 1942 T1.
A 1911 Lincoln Cent when I sorted through my accumulation of pocket change.
A 1916 cent in g-vg condition.
1936 Quarter during the 2008-09 financial crisis. Got several silvers in change back then.
I received in 2010 a 1912 Lincoln Cent from a Safeway change machine.
A 98 year old coin at the time.

In change last year, a 1913 Lincoln Cent.
Right before the covid shutdown this year, when I still stopped for coffee in the morning and still went to lunch three times a week, I received a Choice AU 1943-D Jefferson in change somewhere. Earliest I have seen this year.
This century ... not sure ... I think I remember an '18 buffalo from maybe 2005-ish, and I know I found a couple wheaties from the teens

1928 D Merc in fine condition.
1913 Lincoln Cent back in 2003, so it was 90 years old at the time.

I found a 14-S Wheat Cent as a cashier around 2010 or so. I vaguely remember finding an IHC in a roll but I don't remember what year.
A 1900 Liberty Nickel, VG08 "__BERTY" visible, but a good sized rim ding and environmental damage.

Last year.... in the fall... I received a 1916 cent in change....WW1 coin....still have it, of course.

1928 cent in VF a couple years ago.
1893-S (I think it was an S anyway; memory isn't as sharp as it once was) Barber dime.
Not in change, but I found a 1938–S Mercury dime on a small island in the middle of Minocqua Lake in Wisconsin, probably around 2009. Out boating with friends, anchored offshore, swam to the shoreline, climbed up a small muddy embankment, and there it was at my feet looking just as if it were dropped yesterday. There had been a huge storm the night before, so I figured the rain had somehow brought the object to the surface.
Still have it, of course.

Mines a bit tuff to say. I may have gotten a 1916 Lincoln in change from a coin shop but, I dropped my change and it may of been on the floor and I picked it up thinking it was mine.

I had somehow accumulated about 120 or so lower grade or damaged 2c pieces over the years.
I have no idea what I was intending to do with them, so rather than leave them sitting in the cigar box on my desk, I have been leaving them in the "take a penny, leave a penny" cup at local stores for the last few months.
Don't know what happens after I leave, but I hope that some local kid finds one and says "huh, what the hell is this thing?"
But as of today, there have been no reports of oddball 2 cent coins turning up in circulation that I have seen in the local papers.
I guess that I have to keep seeding these around town until the major media outlets need a feel-good story.

Pretty cool idea! I know of a couple other people who have done the same thing. Your never know when you’ll spark someone’s imagination that way.
I'm pretty sure it was a very worn 1920 Lincoln cent.
I would love to find a two cent piece in the cent tray..... Wow... I would scoop that up immediately. And yes, I do check those trays...Cheers, RickO

Might've found a Wheatie older'n that, since the millennium. I forget.
Oldest I ever found was a 1909 plain Lincoln from my Mom's change purse, back when I was a new collector. But this was around 1978. Back then it wasn't unheard of for a roll from the bank to have 10 or 12 Wheaties, as I recall.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

New year, new decade and new century are so "second millenia". The cool, hip and cutting edge numismatists of today are plying their trade in the "third millenia" and have been doing so for the past 20 (or is it 19) years.

Got a dateless buffalo and a 1917 wheat cent. I also went into a store and they had a take a penny leave a penny cup when I looked in there were 5 1943 steel pennies. I asked if I could exchange them for some change and the young lady said yes. I put in 2 dimes and a nickel and really enjoyed the find.

47 nickel, yesterday
