I was looking through a box of quarters and had to do a double take when I see this target toned quarter. :)
I <3 picking up cool coins for 25 cents! :)

Anyone want to give opinions on NT or AT and if you think it will grade feel free to guess the grade.
Coin has been submitted but not back yet. MS-64

Looks like NT target toning from album. Grade looks to me in 63-64 range.

Looks Mint state except for the highest curls....which could also be strike. Would be sweet if you got an AU58 out of this. Might be the world's finest Everyman for this "type".

    NT to me.

I like N'T ... this coin is beautifully toned. 64.

Looks NT to me and quite nice. Hard to make a judgment of grade on this one. Maybe 64+ or 63+.

NT and I don't see any wear, so I'll say 64 +/-1 depending on how strong the lustre is

Gorgeous clad bicentennial! It has a similar toning patter to mine, so I believe it’s NT and looks to be about MS64. If it does grade and you’re interested to sell it, please let me know.

Thanks for all the replies so far. :)

I wanted to wait for a few responses before I posted what I was thinking.
When I first saw it my thoughts were AT and about the 58 range.
After looking at it a while the color progression looked more NT and I had to keep in mind this is clad not silver.
It looked like it could go maybe in the 63 range. I settled on NT and MS-63 so I sent it in.
I will not be surprised if it gets AT or as low as 58 or on a good day a 64.
I think part of my reservations are I still can't believe this came out of a box of old mixed quarters.

Could go either way to my eye.

Looks likeWashington has a black arrow pointing at his earlobe?

My guess - NT 64 unless the arrow is a depression, then details.

I always loved the '76 quarters anyway. Mainly because of the appearance of the high boss (relief) effect on both sides! B)

    Fanstastic color placement.
    Strike looks even all around.
Very pleasent looking, I must say.

Thats one design I truly love.
So my guess would be with a plus.

NT to me. This is one of my favorite coins for color in that it produces vivid rainbows like this one.

It also looks like late die state due to the flow lines on the obverse face. I'm a fan of these so that's another plus for me.

To me it looks AU55 to AU58. Washington's hair appears to be missing a lot of detail.

Looks NT from a Dansco album. I have a killer SBA in 66 with toning like that.

AT. IMO Dansco Washingtons that get rainbow peripheral target toning get it on one side, and it certainly doesn't look that perfect. The other side, while it can definitely get multiple hues doesn't get that sort of perfect target toning too. For example here's a 1977-D from that era that I pulled out of a Dansco.

Having said that, your coin is certainly one I'd buy at the right price, and IMO would be MA by PCGS/NGC.

Grades posted on the site, shipped and I should see them by Saturday.
    Any last minute guesses?
Should I post the grade or wait until the slab is here to be able to post a photo of it?

  • CoinJunkieCoinJunkie Posts: 8,772 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Got it back. :)
Here is a quick photo, I'm having a hard time getting the color to pop and not get a bunch of glare from the slab.
I can get the color or the slab but not both in the same photo yet. I just need to play with lighting a little more.
And for all of you that are gonna go look for the Trueview I was dumb and didn't get it. :/

I have a couple, one slabbed and one raw. Here's the slabbed one, PCGS MS64 as well. The raw one closely resembles your coin.
