A great big thanks to everyone who served, both those who came home and those that didn't.
I've been reading a lot about the Navy in WWII recently and watching History Channel shows on YouTube. Back then, ship locations were often unknown and if you were sunk, most didn't survive. The following is a "relic medal" which is coined from metal of the battleship.
We all gave some ...
Some gave all
I salute those the most ... because they didn't get to come home like I did
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

My Dad flew B-17's over Germany. My Father-in-law landed on the beaches of Iwo Jima. Neither one ever talked about the hell they went through.
I remember as a boy trying to get my Dad to talk about flying in those B-17s. He wouldn't. They were sitting ducks, always flying together in a pattern, watching their buddies get shot out of the sky on either side. When I asked him about that one day, he gave me the only comment he ever made. He said, "strength is in formation. Stay in formation." I never forgot that. The look on his face when he said it, I'll never forget it, like it brought back such serious memories.
Thanks Dad, and thanks Dean, and to all who served.
My Dad returned and became a banker. He got me started in coin collecting when I was 6-7 yrs old by bringing bags of cents home and we'd go through them.
