A fascinating read! An artist made an 18k gold penny, plated it in copper, then circulated it.

    Interesting story.

    I once put various edge lettering on some plain-edge Sacagawea dollars and spent them.
    I never heard of any turning up, though.

    Here's the finest known from PCGS CoinFacts. This was purchased by @Byers back in 1975 for $7,750, then a record. It's worth half a mil now.

    @Zoins .... Your first link does not work....
    It would be amazing to find such a coin in circulation....Most experienced coin collectors would notice the weight difference right away...unless given in a handful of change. Cheers, RickO

    Yeah, for some reason it worked yesterday but not today. It may be temporarily down, but if it's still down after another day, I'll remove it.
