ThreeCentSilverFLThreeCentSilverFL Posts: 1,696 ✭✭✭✭✭

Happy Friday. I hope you all are well. I finally picked up a 1933-S for my Walker set that fit well. This just about completes my ‘30’s set.

GTG if you’d like. Have a great weekend.

    Very nice! I’m guessing AU-58?

    I'm thinking 58 also.

58 looks right to me also.
Though this date is normally pretty well struck, yours is exceptionally so, and I really like it!

I'll go 63 and a nice conservative at that. I don't really understand the "58"s as the thigh line, chest & breast, head, her right arm and left thumb and hand quite nice sans wear.

There is a dull line up the obverse center that indicates rub. Also, heavy chatter in the fields that is indicative of circulation. There is still some luster left. This coin is a real SLIDER and one that will fool a lot of people. Coins like this are the reason that we have Third Party Grading Services. It's a nice coin in any event.

My guess is based mostly on the TrueView image of the reverse.
Those central neck feathers show the rub pretty clearly, and that is an area that very seldom ever suffers from
    strike weakness.
The OPs obverse image does indeed look like a 62 shot 63 coin....but I'm guessing that in hand, there is luster
break in the right obverse field over the motto.
But - I could certainly be wrong!

I guess I am not seeing it (and admit it is not my series). The thigh of the leg looks excellent and better than most sans friction apparent and details of her RIGHT arm and hand are superb, partly as a result of the strike. Flatness at bottom of right forearm look to be striking softnesss. I guess my eyes must be failing me, but I don't see heavy chatter in the fields either; marks consistent with bagging but not heavy chatter - I have taken and seen many pictures of halfcrowns that ARE my area and they look frequently like this but in hand look much more like the PCGS photos which show only minimal field and device marking. Rims and edges look excellent and are many times a tiebreaker. Interesting what his reveal grade will be.

Good morning, thanks for the comments.

Most were correct, It is an AU58, great eye you all have! Very slight wear up the center obverse and yes a bit of almost imperceivable chatter right obverse is what I’m guessing got it the grade. I’m happy to add it to the set. Thanks for looking :)
