I didn’t win a coin but found it about 10 years later and won it for 1/4 the price of the original auction

My local dealer had a set of those about 7 or 8 years ago. I passed, guess that was a mistake.

Yes, sold a nice MS PCGS 1884cc with wonderful toning to a kid in grade school. Spoke at length to his father before the deal. He had saved his money from doing chores for this dollar. Promised him I'd buy it back if he ever wanted to sell. Forgot about it and him for about 6 or 7 years until he needed to sell as he was going off to college. Actually paid him more than he spent and all was good.
Resold on ebay and broke even.
Never heard from him again.

Bought a dime once and sold it for a profit. A couple of years later, the same coin came up for auction and I was lucky enough to own it twice!

Yep, I bought a 3cS piece in VF/XF as young boy. Probably paid $2 for it, as my allowance was less than a $1/week. Sold it to a guy on the BST 30-years later for $50-ish. He gave it a little dip, sent to PCGS for XF grade and I bought it back for aroung $75. That last transaction was in ~2004.

Once. I collected colonials and sold the collection at auction. One was a nice Fugio that I had purchased from a North Carolina dealer. Three years later I bought the same coin back from the same dealer!

I bought a Peace Vam in PCGS plastic off ebay. A short time later I sold it for double what I paid. About 2 years later I see it listed on ebay, I won it for within $1 of the price I originally paid the first time. I still own the coin and my net cost on it is free
20 days, 30 days, 45 days later. Lost my butt, but I am happy.
I have a few times and I was happy to get them back!

I once had a toned proof Jefferson that was difficult to photograph. I bought it from a bad picture knowing what it would look like (and was right). Later I sold it for a nice profit (percentage wise--it wasn't super valuable), and within a few months it was up for sale, again with a bad photo. Bought it cheap, held it for a little while, and sold it again for a nice profit.
Seller's remorse is sometimes as bad as buyer's remorse. I've experienced both more than a few times.

Yep. Bought a really fabulous dollar. Got it home and photographed it and realized I had already owned it once, in a different holder. I deliberately and willfully did not look up the previous purchase & sales prices. Better not to know.
I guess at least my taste is consistent.

But I originally bought this car in 1994. I liked it a lot but I needed to fund another purchase so I sold it in 1997. I waved goodbye as the new owner hauled it away to Illinois. Of all the cars I had owned, this is the one that I regretted selling.
22 years later the phone rings. My wife answers and calls me over. "Its some guy talking about an old Buick" she said. I assured her, as I picked up the phone, that I hadn't been talking to anyone about any cars, let alone an "old Buick".
The man on the line proceeded to tell me that he had inherited the car in question from his father-in-law. He said that he found my name and phone number in the folder of papers with the car. I still had the same phone number after all those years. Once he told me that it was a gold-colored 1971 Buick GS (Gran Sport), I knew of course that it was my old car.
Before I even asked my fist question he answered it by asking if I would be interested in buying it back. Of course I was, so I played it cool and stated "maybe". It turned out that the man and the car were back in this area, about 40 miles away. My wife remembered the car and she reminded me how many times I had told her that I wish I still had it.
The next day my friend and I went to see it. It was in much worse condition than when I sold it. They were not very kind to it. But I still wanted it for sentimental reasons. So a deal was made and we hauled it back home.
It is currently undergoing a comprehensive restoration. This collage of pictures is from 1994 when I first owned it.

Yes, but only once that I recall. I bought a colorful Roosie dime in a PCGS MS66 holder directly from a collector who was thinning out his holdings, then sold it on eBay later for about triple what I paid for it. Within a year, I saw it in a GC auction in a PC67 holder and ended up winning it for less than I had sold it for as a 66. Then I sold it again to a board member for a small profit, and he got it into a PC67+ holder. Ironically, both parties I sold the coin to got it upgraded after the sale.
Yes, sold this awesome piece to @Boosibri in a moment of weakness, and he graciously sold it back to me a year later for same price.

As a dealer, I do it all the time.
As a collector, it rarely happens. Mostly, because I rarely regret selling something that I've decided to sell. Here's one that I sold in 2015, regretted, and then got to buy back at roughly the same price about a year later. Lucky break!

Not on coins, but happened before on an antique porcelain piece.
Not a coin but a rare National Bank Note - I found it in an antique shop in Geneva, NY in 1988 - my first real find out of the weeds! Unfortunately, in a weak moment, I sold it in 1993 and regretted it ever since. The note was recently offered in Heritage"s "Central States" auction and, AFTER 27 YEARS, I managed to get it back. I've learned my lesson - the next time it will be on the market is in my estate sale.
