You know you're getting old in this hobby when...

In a 10 day period I bought three, yes three, 1943 Walkers in BU. Each time, I forgot that I had already bought one because it was in transit. Please don't tell anyone, especially my wife. She's been trying to put me in the "Home for Dad".

And you just don't get it. You thought it was about COINS.
I, too, bought a coin for my core collection that I already owned and didn't need the duplicate. Got it last week in the mail and wondered why I bought it. At first I thought I must have upgraded but then it turns out it was not as high a grade as my "original" piece. I did tell my wife, probably a big mistake as I saw her writing it down. Ugh.

you're searching a BU roll of red 1955 Lincoln cents and thinking about taking a nap.
Funny, I like that story !!!
You must have "a thing" for that date.
I just goofed up and won a duplicate of this piece in a political items auction. This Jugate (a button with pictures of the presidential and vice presidential candidates side by side) is what I would call "the odd couple." Lyndon Johson would have just as soon had a rattle snake be his running as Bobby Kennedy. They couldn't stand each other, but some button maker made a series of pieces with Johnson and other potential candidates. I remember seeing these pieces on the cover of a "Life" magazine at the time, 1964. I never realized that they actually existed. For the record, Johnson ran with Hubert Humphrey in 1964.
OH MY !!!!!. Several of these comments have me saying " I DO THAT "
You know what would make you feel better? A nice 1943 Walker in BU.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
You wonder if you should start collecting the mint’s new 10 year program because you’re not sure if you’ll be around long enough to see the end of it.
You know you're old when you remember being able to buy something with a single dime.

And my first was an 1876 for $60 and I still have it (1968) I was going to talk $1000 from my savings account and buy more but my mom would not allow it.

I have been dreaming of this day to come. You get the enjoyment of buying the same coin for the first time, every time.

They weren’t still in circulation at face value?
When I went to work for Coin World in December of 1973, I naturally joined the Shelby County Coin Club. At our meetings we always had a little buying and selling in the first half hour. Somewhere in the mid-70’s when gold was around $100 I bought 18 Sovereigns for my Mom at about $25 each. When she passed two years ago they were still in her SDB, three for each of her kids.
The sovs were gem BU (Pretoria and Melbourne mint marks).
