Chopmarked Seated Half NEWP!

Just got this coin in, got a pretty nice deal on it. Nicely original toning. Happy to put this one in my collection. Some might say it’s just damage and I paid too much over spot, but I like the history behind it.

Right now I don't want to see anything China related but this one gets a pass.
Nice example!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I had just missed on a PCGS EF40 '57-S when I spotted this BIN for $1100 less.
Very cool!
Sweet!
I pick these up whenever I get the chance...very glad these type of coins are broadly considered damaged junk!
I thought PCGS straight graded chop marked coins?
@Zoins I think that’s only for Trade Dollars, I’m not sure though.

Nice!
Very nice ... would like to see the odometer on that coin...

The chopmark seen multiple times on the OP coin looks like 賀 which is the traditional version of hè, which means “to congratulate”.
Neat, because many coin chopmarks are characters or symbols which have lost their meaning.
The mark at 10 o’clock on the reverse looks like 汜, or sì, meaning “ stream which returns after branching”.
No clue what that has to do with China trade! But this is true for most chopmarks on coins.
Nice I like the Chop marks too
@OriginalDan thanks for the insight! I was a tad curious about what the chops meant.
