Took a chance on raw Ebay gold.,,,

heavymetalheavymetal Posts: 657 ✭✭✭✭

Saw this on Ebay and took a chance while feeling adventurous after a 5 week house lockup. Never had one of my own but did sell one some years ago that my late Father In Law bequeathed to my wife and her brother. Always regretted not paying my Brother In Law for his half of the coin and keeping it in the family. Hopefully this makes up for that, Here are the Seller’s pictures which I have edited. I wouldn’t say they started as moonshots but they definitely were in the cloud tops. What do you think? HM

Coin in hand with my pictures from IPhone. I’m happy with it.

First pictures look better. Choice AU or so IMO. Too bad you didn't pull a JWitten and buy an 11-d as the common 11, which he has done on ebay--cha-ching!

Nice 2½ ... lil bit of wear but still decent feathers on the reverse and obverse . Wear on the face/headdress took some detail away but still a nice coin, I'd add it to my collection for the right price too.
If no fancy scope for pics try taking pic with natural sunlight, on a overcast sky is best...diffused light.

The Indian $2.5 series has been very heavily counterfeited so buying a raw one especially from eBay is a risky proposition. This one appears to be real and lightly circulated so it would probably grade AU55 or 58.

Seems ok as long as it is gold and you didn't pay much over spot for it.

Love those 2 1/2 Indians! Yours looks nice and original.
I bought one last week also. They're easy to get hooked on... This is my 4th one.
