  You have to remember that you have more space to work with on a medal, and you can also have high relief. You also have a slew of statutory wordings that have to be part of the design like, "United States of America," "Liberty," "In God We Trust," "E. Pluribus Unium," the date and a value. All of that eats up a lot of space.

  I am not saying that some of the designs are disappointing, they are, but there are other things to consider.

  Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
