I'm not sure the 145,000 people who have died worldwide would agree.
So exactly how many old sick people should be saved to warrant the ruination and/ or death of tens or hundreds of millions of young healthy people.
Life is a death sentence anyway.
Young people have always been the future and nobody has the right to a little better chance of survival at a cost to other lives. Despite my age and health I worry far more for children than even for those already sick. God help us all.
This equation might be subject to amendment if and when I get it.
I think the best bet for optimistic people is to buy the finest graded gold they can get at little or no premium. Common date double eagles in nice condition and scarcer and older 19th century scarce gold in lower grades WILL be a great thing to own in twenty or thirty years.
One way or the other we'll get through this and in the long run scarce and desirable coins will probably have plenty of demand.

Know what? I'm a really bad person. That's why I cannot get overly sad about a bunch of nice folks - mothers, fathers, grandparents - who have died worldwide mostly because of the Chinese and WHO coverup. I'm more concerned with what goes on in the good old USA. From that standpoint, the number of deaths here is not alarming. There have been much worse times. We got through them and nothing was shut down!
There is a group of people in this country who don't let a tragic situation go to waste. They are more of a danger to me than a virus. BTW, before you start posting numbers of deaths to make a point, it might be a good idea to compare your number with deaths from other causes besides this virus.

The number of young people dying from this virus has been reported to be very low. You would not know that because when a 13 YO dies somewhere is is splashed all over the place! Apparently, most of the young folks who get the virus only have mild symptoms if any at all.
Gentlemen, we are now on a trajectory toward getting this thread closed. I would suggest finding a different forum dedicated to political posturing if you wish to pursue your discussion.
Like everyone I can’t wait to open the country back up....... ............when it’s safe to do so. I get why we need to. People are getting antsy. Nearly 50% of Americans have more credit card debt then emergency savings. 25% have no savings at all. 15% are on track to fund one one year of retirement. The affluent want to keep what they have. BUT, the last thing we need to do is open up too quickly and go back to square one.
The University of Washington who is cited almost daily by the fed government during this pandemic thinks it’s possible that Vermont, WV, Montana and Hawaii could open back up by May 4 with a caveat. They must restrict large gatherings, test widely and quarantine the contacts of people who test positive.
They also think that Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Utah, Arkansas and Oklahoma won’t be able to re open until Mid June or July

Corona virus has nothing to do with the fact gold was already heading higher as the risk of debt default soared through deficit spending. Now demand will soar as money supply soars even more and as deficit spending approaches unimaginable levels. Government will do everything in its power to hold gold down except to reign in spending.
As prices increase, spending increases and wealth production eventually returns it's hard to imagine gold being anything but a good buy. It was already headed to 2400 so where will it go to now?
I'm not sure the 145,000 people who have died worldwide would agree.

I’m so happy for you that you're not alarmed. I’m so relieved that your not grief stricken about people dying from Covid-19.
One of my favorite people got ill last week. She was texting her hockey mom group chat during that time. She had a massive migraine and started vomiting during the week and Sunday she spiked a fever of 105, she had been COVID tested at that time but sent home to wait for the test results because her breathing was alright. Monday she woke up with blue hands and feet and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Then late in the day her temp spiked to 105 and she was transported to U of M. She was put on life support and dialysis. She died on Tuesday. She left behind a young family and loving husband. Her name was Jen Kotas. She was young, a fitness trainer and super fit. So upsetting.
It’s a fools errand to compare a pandemic situation and subsequent deaths to “other deaths” but it’s what a certain group of people will do. It’s called a red herring. These people scare me more then this virus itself.
With a pandemic unless it’s controlled who knows the final carnage. No one. Since there is no vaccine, not enough testing and an awful lot of unknowns simply shouting U-S-A U-S-A at it probably ain’t going to help much.

The meat and bones of this is, disasters are times of massive redistributions of wealth. Many of us are sitting in the luxury of our homes on work vacations, and we have bodies in the street in Brazil and bodies burning in Venezuela.
Pay attention to the world around you and the things you see and don't see. Interesting how little of this is on Facebook and YouTube but pick up the phone and ask a friend in a severely affected country how things are going..
I was told by the TV that I could trust my bank, so I withdrew a bunch, and two days later they put restrictions in place. A main page Yahoo news article told me only preppers are crazy enough to buy riot gear so I bought protection before the Internet sold out. I read an article about how there's so much gold and silver floating around in the coin market, how west point is gonna deliver this year, coin dealers have so much that premiums might only increase a little bit and apmex alone could handle it... so I popped back into CU a few weeks ago and thank god I did.
But this? This confuses the piss out of me. There are going to be areas of the world in which logistics and supply chains are drastically overhauled and many jobs will be replaced by automation; entertainment, dining, dating, weddings, funerals. All of it changes fundamentally. It is not pre-pandemic America anymore, not pre-pandemic earth anymore. Entire industries will die, be born again, new ones will come up.
Be aware of the things you might need to carry with you in a moments notice; documents, identification, cash, gold, treasures, passports. You can't keep thinking "how will (thing from 2019) be like in 2021?" when that thing just doesn't exist anymore. Whether it's a way of life or a community effort or something on your job, everything changes. This is a massive shakeup. Don't panic and freak out, but don't fail to plan. 30 days of food got us 45 days so we restocked 60 days of food. Whatever you collect or invest or whatever, prepare to brace and hold. This isn't going away until we test and isolate and help each other starve it out until a vaccine. Viruses this efficient and effective don't just go away. Even if the world had a response as laudable as NZ or Taiwan, the impact on every day living would be tremendous. Indeed, look what Taiwan did post SARS that prepped them for coronavirus.
Those industries, practices, and styles of living are going to be the most common in surviving populations. There will also be a severe loss of life in the age brackets wherein many have had a lifetime to build large collections and stores of wealth. I'd recommend spending your spare time learning languages of the countries that have a practical response, and maybe a trade like woodworking or fabricating or 3d printing. Fulfill your civic duty and learn a hobby, or garden, close the gaps in the supply chain that cause shit like this to happen.
So yes. Get gold. But don't think what you put in now is, in any way period whatsoever forever, going to translate to precisely the same thing when we make it to the other side. I already have no problem paying Karen $30 for her Lysol, because I'm too busy running my business to figure store-hopping into my schedule. Things are worth different things during crises. Some will never be the same again. Gold will always be gold.
Stunningly sad and inappriate direction in this thread... People who express thoughts here are not auditioning for a Soylent Green commercial. The discussion of politics is not allowed on this forum! Fortunately, easily obtainable information, backed up by reality has nothing to do with politics. It is only when this information is twisted, unreported, or goes against one's beliefs that it can be thought of as having a political slant.
We are what we think we know. For example: I am embarrassed to confess that I had been a professional numismatist for over two years before I learned that there was no such thing as a DOUBLE die coin. I am sorry that you know someone who died. SO FAR, out of postings on other forums and here, your story has raised the death toll up to FOUR.
Comparing statistics is not a red herring. it is a way to show the relationship between things. You and I have more of a chance of being robbed at a coin show than DYING from this virus. So stay safe in both cases.

Sounds like some of you are auditioning for a Soylent Green commercial.
As Roadrunner stated TA was a helpful tool in predicting this latest run higher in gold prices.
And the $7 trillion or so added to the national debt as a result of closing the economy will certainly help some assets outperform others.
Necessity is the mother of invention, so expect some very creative and innovative industries to develop.
Not all changes to "the way we used to do it" are deleterious or apocalyptic. Massive opportunity, for those with vision and conviction, will abound.
Knowledge is the enemy of fear
