What’s the chance of the June Long Beach Show actually happening?

Seems like a long-shot at this point, but I’m hopeful it’s a go. I need to get out of town, and see some beautiful coins!
Stay safe everyone,
Dave
Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.

Less than 50/50 I think.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
The problem with planning any event is that lead time is required. Then there is the matter of deposits, financial commitments. Regardless whether we have an "all clear" in June, the event planners must err on the side of conservatism.
The US government is looking to China to see how they reopen their markets and such. It’ll likely be a template for here.
I’d expect that once we are on the other side of peak it will be a gradual loosening of shelter in place. They wouldn’t want a new surge, after all.
My prediction is we will start seeing adjustments in mid May and adjustments made through the summer until September.
So I wouldn’t anticipate any coin shows of any size until August. Just my 2c...
I'll guess nil. Even if Cali is open for business by then, there's too much risk it could be shut down with a second wave of cases. JMHO.
The logistics of the show were most likely in place more than a year ago. What remains to be seen is if things open back up.
At this point I wouldn't go anyway. It's not worth the risk.
I would give ANA in August better than even money odds of happening but Long Beach won't happen IMHO.

ZERO CHANCE
What could be better than that?
Long Beach in June? No...
Burning man in September...?
🤪
If we have our beaches open by July 4 it would be a huge win.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
It's not happening.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
I'm from the area and there is no way it's happening. Besides that the June show is always has the least attendance. IMO, the next LB show will be in February.

1 in a million? So you’re saying there’s a chance!
Dave
We can't trust China any further than we can throw them. They are the reason we are in this mess!!!!!
Not happening. We all need to be back at work and large gatherings of people have to be green-lighted before this is going to happen. And ditto to those above who commented that you can't trust any info that comes from official sources in the PRC.
No way
Even if it is held, which I doubt, I would not attend. If social distancing guidelines are dropped by June this virus could easily make a comeback. There are too many older collectors and dealers who have "underlying health issues".
I'm thinking not.
A slap on the belly with a wet trout?
I strongly doubt the show will go on... too soon IMO...I would look to the fall for things to normalize...Cheers, RickO
Slim to none unfortunately.
No Way.
Long Beach part of greater Los Angeles metro area.
Virus will still be around in LA area.
too population dense
some experts think some level of crisis/cautions till July 2021
when projections of a vaccine will available.
Probably next Long Beach show in sept 2021. Bummer!
The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

There is considerable chatter about shutting down schools until 2021

For those who think the market is soft and going to get softer, I'd suggest you check out some of the recent auction results.
This market certainly isn't red hot, but its not in freefall
Bullion on the other is red hot. Any shop owner that can stay open or has any online presence should be fine

I was wondering for those that go out are you wearing a mask to protect others? Since the doctors are saying you might not be showing any symptoms. I am wearing mine now when I go shopping with disposable rubber 🧤 gloves. Just wondering since some want to go to these shows so bad I would think protect yourself and others. After all you won’t know if the other person just came back from a trip from Itally or Spain.
Theresa Tam, the country's top doctor, said Tuesday that while the scientific research "is not quite there" yet on the effectiveness of non-medical masks in stopping the spread of COVID-19, she wouldn't hesitate to use a mask when grocery shopping or riding transit.
"That's one option," she said of wearing a mask. "It is an added layer of prevention and protecting the spreading to others."
4-8-2020
Governor Cuomo of New York said 779 people died in the past day in his state. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said 275 had died there. Both totals exceeded one-day records reported just a day earlier.
Of course that’s in the rear view mirror. Who knows what things will look like 3 months from now let alone 3 weeks from now. People are losing their jobs daily and or are taking pay cuts. There will be a time soon where people can not participate buying something for their hobby itch. Very few people will be insulated from this.

Not gonna happen I'm afraid...
No coin shows or events happening around here. We haven't been able to get masks. The pharmacy workers are wearing home made cloth masks. Bars, restuarants and most business are shut down. Walmart and grocery stores have yellow tape limiting access. Someone has to come out before someone else goes in. As you can imagine there is a long wait time to get in.
I never thought I would see anything like this in The USA.
I don't see it happening......it's too soon.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

No chance. I just hope I am doing dentistry by July 4th. I also fear a big shock coming to coin prices. I know a lot of people who felt well off a few weeks ago are now in shock. Medical doctors laid off, business people having 30% pay cuts, business owners sitting praying they can reopen. Maybe just a hiccup but If my coins were not all in quarantine at the bank I would probably be selling some of my remaining widgets
Safer at Home has been extended to 5/15 for Los Angeles County which Long Beach is part of

I am starting to think that the July Summer FUN is not going to happen, so would say no Long Beach.
Be careful what you wish for....I know alot of dealers complained there were too many shows.
I’m not seeing any large gatherings, shows if any kind or celebrations like concerts or fairs for the next 4 months for sure. There is too much spreading to go as this wildfire crosses the county.
I can see limited return to work models and protocol for several businesses rolled out slowly over time. Look for conventions and shows to reboot after school’s can reopen and airlines get sorted out. Those two sectors are the ones to watch imo. Until then, show promoters will have to pull plugs out of safety, PR, and sadly low performance considerations.
Not likely in June. The logistics of handing slabs and raw coins back and forth in person between customer and dealer is a nightmare.
Coin shows tend to have a large % of people over 50 and 60 yrs of age. The most vulnerable groups. In my state, 96% of the reported deaths are for those 50 and older. 92% for 60 and older. 78% for 70 and older. Yet 0.4% for under 30. And 1.5% for under 40.
On the day Long Beach is supposed to open there will be zombie-like collectors bumping up against the entrance doors much like the zombies in 1978s "Dawn of the Dead" were bumping up against the doors of the J.C. Penney store in the mall.
African continent and the hundreds of thousands of refugees in the Middle Eastern camps are going to be a graveyard.
We are still in the early stages of this horror.
Need better testing and hope for a vaccine.
January at best for any normalcy.

No return to normalcy until a vaccine is widely available.
Shows may happen before then but attendance will be poor.
What do I know.

Now I can't get an image of bikini clad women wearing masks catching some rays, out of my mind! Thanks alot. Peace w

No - until vaccine, cure and fallout clears that infrastructure gone. We are in new territory, the world before is gone.
Furthermore many will not be buying coins with the damage to their livelihoods / careers. Many will not recover - a lot of bankruptcy’s on the horizon. Others waking up every day in depression anguish living hell why did spend money on x (doesnt have to be coins).
Coins will always trade near their basal (bullion) value. This should not impact much those already there. Others, well you can draw your own conclusions.
