    Genuine, and a very nice example of the error on a one-year type to boot. I saw that coin offered for sale recently, I think the dies are slightly rotated too. Did you buy it?

    I just bought this one on eBay last week, had a reasonable Buy It Now and is very similar to the OP's coin, except it is the scarcer Type 2 reverse (seller's pictures):

    Guys, when asking an opinion about a clip, it is very helpful to show the edge of the part that is clipped. This is one case where "show us the edge" ALWAYS applies.

    Yup, genuine! The design rim properly tapers toward the center of the clip. I thought about bidding on that one! Nice piece!

    Thank you all for the feedback! I've been trying to find 1913-P Type I errors (still looking for more) and took a chance on this being authentic.

    Here is a rather poor picture of the edge. Hopefully, it helps.

    The edge shows the "punch and tear" characteristic that is left over from the blanking process. When evaluating a potential clipped planchet, always check the edge as well as looking for the Blakesley Effect (which may not always be present)
