That's a shame but understandable. CSNS has always held a special place in my heart as a show where I first met two dealers (now life-long friends) who have influenced my collecting immeasurably.
Hopefully these shows/events/games will all be able to be rescheduled to some extent but the global disruption will be felt for a long time.

Over a month out I think it's a bit premature. Hope GNA doesn't cancel it's show as it should be gangbusters if it's a go. I agree with cancelling it if this is still going on...but I'm hoping it fizzles before then. Time will tell.
Wow a month in advance? That seems a little premature...... hopefully there wont need to be cancellations in a month, and the virus will be starting to fizzle by then
It may seem a bit early to cancel, but I know my state’s (Ohio) department of health projected a peak around late April to early May, so the Coronavirus may be at/nearing its height around the time this show is scheduled to take place. It would be great if it was on the decline by late April, but I’m not quite so optimistic that things will be settling down by then.
I also think it's premature. There's a theory that this thing has been circulating for 4 months, many people have been exposed, and just didn't get sick. Once we see the results of 20,000, 30,000, 50,000 screening tests, then we'll know more about the cycle. It's early unless all the contractors, etc. needed 30 days cancellation notice, but you'd think they'd be flexible with the size of the show they're losing.
Damn. I get it though, perhaps a little premature, but very likely prudent. I was fully expecting this announcement. Just sucks as this is the only big one I go to every year, just a 90 mile drive. I hate getting on planes and the added expenses of the flights and hotels. Doing so as far from ideal for a medium size collector on a budget.
It was probably a good idea. Things are just too unsettled now and this allows dealers and collectors to hopefully avoid last second cancellation charges they might incur.

CSNS posted the following announcement on their web site...
“The Central States Numismatic Society has canceled its April 22-25, 2020 convention because of the coronavirus outbreak.
"Our focus is the safety and health of our booth holders, exhibitors, collectors and the general public. Therefore, in accordance with recommendations from health officials to cease activities where people gather together in large and close groups, we are canceling our convention,” CSNS President Mitch Ernst said.
The official CSNS convention auctions held by Heritage Auctions will still be held on the dates scheduled. However, the location has changed from the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in suburban Chicago to Heritage’s headquarters in Dallas, TX, instead. For more information on these auctions, please visit the Heritage website - www.ha.com.
CSNS understands the logistical challenges facing those who had made plans to attend the convention and will be reaching out to booth holders and exhibitors in the coming days to discuss options.
Hotel reservation questions should be directed to the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel at 847-303-4100
“We thank our many friends in the numismatic community, including educational exhibitors, numismatic professionals and collectors for their past support of our conventions and look forward to seeing them at our 82nd Anniversary Convention next year in Schaumburg,” Convention Chairman Kevin Foley said. “. https://www.centralstatesnumismaticsociety.org/

Had a feeling the convention was being cancelled. Thank you for letting us know.

Seems a little early to cancel to me. Behind the ANA and FUN show ,CSNS is my favorite show.

Rats. I just hope that come end of April we're all looking in the rear view mirror and griping about what a stupid decision that was.

Jeff
I wasn't going anyway. I can't afford to. My wife is 73 and has all kinds of autoimune(sp) problems so she is VERY at risk.
It's just not worth it!

I would have gone to this one before. I wouldn’t have gone now but I’m old.
I have 3 Barber Dimes coming in the mail!
Hopefully, you’re aware that mail delivery has been postponed until at least April 1.

I'm still buying like crazy. Would you like photos with the report?
