Planning on attending two shows next weekend, but cases have now been established in the Denver area.
Have had some health issues, so I remain undecided waiting for more information.
If I cancel plans, it's to protect my parents. Even if I'm fine, they are older and I don't want to unintentionally expose them. That would be devastating to me if I did.
GSAs, OBW rolls, Seated, Walkers. Anything old and Colorado-focused, CO nationals.
For me, having copd, respiratory problems already, I'm keeping my butt at home! I don't even like having to go out for Dr's appointments right now as that really is the only reason why I would ever need to leave my house, until the professionals get this virus in check. I already have too many ways to die that I don't need to add to the ways of dying if I don't have too!
So to answer the question, if I had plans to go to a coin show, I would cancel the plans especially if it is just to collect and if I was a full time coin dealer and my bills depended on me selling coins, I am still canceling any upcoming show or a few shows if need be until they get a handle on this virus. If I couldn't afford to miss a show or couple of shows as a dealer then I am in the wrong business anyways because I should have been able to save for a few months of living expenses if I had been doing it for over a year, two or longer, especially if I had been doing it longer than a couple of years, then I really am in the wrong career!
I am also the type of person that believes when you die, your time was just up and there was nothing that you could have done differently to keep from dying except for if you were doing some stupid *hit. But that goes back to where I don't try to add to ways that I could die, so I don't any longer do the stupid *hit to add to the ways to help kill myself!
I just went through Heathrow. The taxi had hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes. After security there was quite the queue at 7am to use the hand sanitizer dispenser. EVERYONE was using it. Great to see as we are all in this together. We are a globally connected like it or not. I like it.

My wife a two girlfriends drove down to Denver yesterday to see Oprah at the Pepsi center today. There was no stopping them. She said about 10 ladies from here are hanging together. Reports are Oprah just spoke and they’re having a blast and will be attending other seminars all day. I’m sure there is lots of close proximity sitting and hugging etc.
At first hint of trouble, I did get ahead of the curve somewhat and ordered 5k in backup medical supply for the tattoo shops. Reports so far is some supply companies are running thin and the UPS guy said he’s surprised I got the gloves as they’re delivering most of them to medical, dentists, etc. If this ends up being a nothing burger I will go through this stuff anyway. Tattoo needles are all made in China now and I’m sitting on a ton, so if that faucet shuts off I have time to adjust go back to soldering them up myself like the 90s. Might make the case for someone making them stateside going forward. I guess my old boss influenced me right about supply’s drying up at a moments notice and having built in options.
Of coarse I’m gonna hold back on non essential spending till the coast is clear-er. Still need a roof over my head and the weather doesn’t care what the news is saying. Never have tapped my emergencies war chest for coins anyway. If there was a coin show close I would go but not going past driving distance with all I’m responsible for.
Hey, if the town gets shut down, I could use a month off. Believe me, I could always do more at home and interact with the kids more. I’m good either way. But people around here are going about work and pleasure like normal. Will see if my wife gets sick next week.

I will limit my travels to automobiles or foot or bike only until this cloud passes over.

I now hear that they are looking at mandating a stoppage of cruise ships for a period of time.
I went into see my local dealer yesterday and he mostly wanted to buy gold at spot. I might clear out a Palladium Maple, just cause. Maybe even divest of a Martha, for beauty’s sake. Give the rest of my collection some relief. She definitely has a “tested positive” look...

When I landed at LAX it was a ghost town. Hand sanitizers everywhere but no one was checked for temps or asked any questions related to the virus. If you have been living in a cave the past month or so or just awoke from a coma you wouldn’t have known anything was up.
Hundreds of taxis and Uber’s at the airport awaiting passengers. Problem for them....very little passengers. Our flight was full regardless

Yesterday in NY they checked family and neighbors of a man that was experiencing major symptoms and was in the hospital. Family had no symptoms but all were positive. So were much of the neighbors tested- almost all positive and no major symptoms.
90k in china have been tested positive in china, but that doesnt mean they are all showing bad symptoms. Unfortunately people are dying from this and that is terrible. But influenza (common flu) kills 56,000 people a year as well. (source CDC)
Therein lies the rub. People can be infected and asymptomatic and still pass it on. So you never really know about those next to or among you. Normally with a cold it's a waste of time to seek medical attention since there's usually little or nothing that they can do for you. Funny that in all the years that the common cold has been around that there's no vaccine for it.
One has to consider their own personal situation and decide that even if they get it and recover they could end up being damaged goods for the rest of their lives.

With respect to the Baltimore show, according to ABC News the first case of Coronavirus in Washington DC was reported today. If the Baltimore-Washington region goes into quarantine, it seems unlikely the show will proceed.
There has got to be a bright side to a long-term quarantine in Washington DC, I'm just not quite sure how to articulate it.

Apparently the HVAC systems are suspect. Compared to the effective filtration of air on a commercial airplane the logistics of moving vast quantities of air through a huge ship lead to less effective filtration.
I am in my 70's and no travel, no coin shows and I am not going to play poker at my local casino until things get a little better. I have a hard time just getting over the common cold or flu. The mitigation phase is not going to help me much as I am retired. I am going to start wearing a mask when I am around the public as we had our first case in my town today.

I experienced it grocery shopping on Saturday. I had two different men (50+) walk pass me in the aisle and cough uncovered. One sounded real sickly and I think the other one was doing it for fun to see people’s reaction. Lots of people were stocking up.

For years people have been getting sick on cruises. Not just one or two, but hundreds at a time. For this reason I would think they are rather unsanitary. We have never been on one and never.

Yes, they had a good venue at the Ethan Allen Hotel. I had a club meeting cancelled tonight in NY, lots of seniors, they can't take the risk. The virus is just beginning to hit the US, test kits are limited.

I will be at shows in Illinois but as a result of the coronavirus, I am taking precautions at my table. For one, I will be using hand sanitizer and will be asking my customers to do the same, as I will provide some for them to use if they choose to handle any of my coins, whether in a holder or not.
I talked to my sister, who is an RN and works in the risk management section of her hospital, and agrees that what I'm doing is a good idea. My feeling is that I'd rather be safe than sorry, plus neither I or my customers want to get sick from this.

That's exactly my concern. If I get COVID-189, yes, maybe I'll get thru it OK, and maybe not. A big consideration for me would be unknowingly giving it to someone who won't survive.

I’m trying to avoid people or public places. It really surprises me the elderly people traveling out of town. I know several. I’m worried for them.
For years people have been getting sick on cruises. Not just one or two, but hundreds at a time. For this reason I would think they are rather unsanitary. We have never been on one and never.

Payments on mortgages will be suspended across the whole of Italy after the coronavirus outbreak, Italy’s deputy economy minister said on Tuesday.

I went to the Danbury show last Sunday that was fairly active.
The virus has a long incubation period, it is a matter of time before it hits the US a lot harder.
Danbury, CT I take it? I live in the eastern part of Hartford County, would it ever be worthwhile for me to drive to the show? I wonder what is going to happen with the Mansfield Numismatic Society Coin & Paper Money Show at the end of March.
Don't frequent Natl. shows, just local ones. Will sit them out for a while.
Yes, they had a good venue at the Ethan Allen Hotel. I had a club meeting cancelled tonight in NY, lots of seniors, they can't take the risk. The virus is just beginning to hit the US, test kits are limited.
I will be at shows in Illinois but as a result of the coronavirus, I am taking precautions at my table. For one, I will be using hand sanitizer and will be asking my customers to do the same, as I will provide some for them to use if they choose to handle any of my coins, whether in a holder or not.
I talked to my sister, who is an RN and works in the risk management section of her hospital, and agrees that what I'm doing is a good idea. My feeling is that I'd rather be safe than sorry, plus neither I or my customers want to get sick from this.

I decided to skip the Baltimore show--not just because of the virus (some other business gets in the way as well), but it's one of the reasons to skip. Might not be that bad (yet), but lots of unknowns about it. It's looking like traffic at the show will be lackluster.
Spring is only one week away.

That's exactly my concern. If I get COVID-189, yes, maybe I'll get thru it OK, and maybe not. A big consideration for me would be unknowingly giving it to someone who won't survive.
In another week you will not have a choice if you want to attend a coin show as events are getting shut down across the United States.
Really, it doesn't affect anyone that's Chinese or Iranian?
