I 1st saw this coin as a beginning collector when I was 8 or 9. It belonged to my Mamaw. She told me she got it from her mother! I always wondered if they knew the numismatic value. I begged my Mamaw for it for several years until she told me I could have it when she died. I promptly told her then I don't want it. Yes, I have it.
Interesting to see a Photo Seal card from the era when Brian Wagner was still with Snow. That adds a bit of cache! Nice coin.
This one is such a cool piece of history that I would hope it's the last piece I would ever sell - neat piece of history before Kohler (reverse of coin) sold the dies to Baldwin.
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko.
The coins that I would NEVER let go of are childhood acquisitions. From my mother, uncle, aunt, and the pretty bank tellers in my small town who knew I was a little kid collector......so....so...long ago.
This diobol from Athens was minted from a gold statue that was melted down to pay for a fleet to fight the Spartans.
If I sell it, I'd have to sell the rest of my collection as it's irreplaceable (two in private hands, the other owned by a prominent collector who will never need to sell).

I have to believe that this would upgrade on a reconsideration submission to PCGS, looks 63 or better to me.

If my collection were frozen in time now....probably this one because it's the largest coin and I would be able to see it better than any other as the years go on:
It’s a 1814 E/A Capped Bust Half. Very tough Redbook variety in AU and one of only 6 or 7 total in MS.
This is probably the 3rd finest known. I won it years ago in a Teletrade Auction as an unattributed 1814 in a NGC 61 holder and have since crossed and upgraded it to PCGS 63+ CAC.
For years I have looked for information on Lucas DeAyllon from the 1525 expedition.... They lasted about six months somewhere between Wilmington and Hilton head. When I retire, I plan to volunteer my time to the state archaeology guys.
My blackwater river diving days are long finished, but some remarkable finds have been made.

Oh, a blackwater diver. I always respected you guys. I'll bet we could have some interesting conversations. I found that coin with an underwater detector (Fisher 1280-X), though the site was on dry land.

Wow... that is a real beauty.... Sure do not see many like that. Cheers, RickO
Never say never but even though I could upgrade this one I can't see myself doing so.

I have 2.
Total graded = 2. Only 2 in MS65 none higher.
Real nice coins!
It would be a tough choice, but this would probably be the last...
I like the old stuff, so this would be last to go. Guess I follow a first struck, last out system. (Pics by CNG)

That is crazy cool!
Great coin. I have a 1838 that could be its sister.
Outstanding coins posted.
Hard to distill it all down to just one single coin.

well in the US coin section this 1932d Wheat Penny would be one (given to me by a family member)
Very cool @drddm . What's the story?
I don't own one of those types yet...
I like the cut of your Jib.
Messed up thing is, the last sell coin tends to change constantly over time. You'll find even better coins with enough hunting time put in.

Thank you!
