Using metal forceps might risk scratching the surface if the tips slip off a coin's device, or the forceps placement is uneven or if the grip of the person holding is unsteady. I'd suggest only using tongs or forceps if the tips are well-padded so they won't potentially do damage.

The flashlight reflector tip has been here on the forums for many years... surprised that there are still members who have not seen it used....Works well, in spite of some distortion... allows a 360 degree view. Cheers, RickO

But, stamps are made of paper and a lot more fragile than a half dollar. Logic would tell you that is a very safe way to handle your coins.

Get a pair of PLASTIC "Spring Clamps" from Wolfcraft on the internet. Great for conservation too (Not for acetone use).

I would not use metal tweezers to handle coins.
