They are giving 10% cash back on any purchase for the next few days. Up to $100 cash back per purchase, up to $500 each quarter. If you buy enough like me, and have a few accounts, you can get a couple grand for free per quarter. Pretty sweet deal.

Are you sure? Check again. Usually only excludes bullion items in the coin category. Works for me (and everyone else, I would imagine)

    ineligible items:

"Qualifying items exclude all items in the following categories: Classifieds; Business & Industrial, but only for Heavy Equipment within that category; Real Estate; Gift Cards & Coupons, including eBay Gift Cards, Gift Cards, and Digital Gifts within that category; Bullion within the Coins & Paper category; and all categories in Motors, except Parts & Accessories."

Note that these exclusions are based on the category the item is listed in and not on the item title or description. Bullion items listed in a non-bullion category would be eligible for the ebay bucks.

Clipped right from offer. I'm not a regular buyer and mostly have sold in the category. First time I have received anything. Definitely different than what derryb posted.

I think most/all got this offer (if not by email, check your eBay messages and the eBay home page), but in any case I wonder if some of the targeted promotions are based on whether or not you have a watch list or things in your cart,

Sad but true. Mine grabs over 6% of the sales price so 10% back is nice but the tax really puts a crimp in it. It is only really only an incentive to buy what I was probably going to buy anyway. :/

  • derrybderryb Posts: 37,618 ✭✭✭✭✭

note that the list of categories not eligible for bonus bucks are also not eligible for regular ebay bucks. If you can earn regular bucks then you can earn bonus bucks. Again, category chosen by the seller determines if item is eligible or not.

Your offer that is exempting all coin category items is a coupon. It is not the same as a 10% ebay bonus bucks offer.
Also, note that your coupon is valid 12/9 - 12/18. Current bonus ebay buck offer is only for a couple of days.

Two completely different flavors of a 10% discount.

I went back and added some more to my comments after I re-read your offer. It somehow did not make it to the post.

In any case, others have since pointed out that it is actually a different offer.

All is not lost, however. For coupons like yours you just need to search for bullion, etc., and find the listings that are not in the coins category. Some sellers list coins in other categories.

Get used to it. State Sales tax, if you live in a State that charges a sales tax, is not limited to coins but all merchandise.

Not all merchandise is taxed, and not all merchandise is discretionary. Coins are both. The 8.25% sales tax in my locality makes it uneconomical to use eBay for any coins, especially if bullion-related.

I believe OPA meant that ebay is levying the same tax percentage across the board on all items sold to buyers in each state where it has implemented tax collections.
