PCGS Grading Website Updates

Apologies if this has already been announced...
I haven't had anything graded in a couple of weeks, but I Just noticed that there is now an orange banner under "status" that shows images are ready for those submissions with images.
Also, more interesting, it looks like PCGS has updated their order status system to show process updates similar to another grading company.
Arrived-->Received-->Grading-->Encapsulation-->Quality Check-->Order Shipped-->Delivered
More info is always nice, so this looks to be an improvement!

Yes, it has been mentioned (at least two other threads), but this is a very good positive change to the system.
So I think it bears repeating, IMO.
The “Year of the Customer” is proving to be on-target! @BrettPCGS @HeatherBoyd
well, I haven't submitted anything for about eight months, it looks like the experience will be more better!!
This could possibly decrease the amount of "Where are my coins?" posts.... That would be a good thing,...
Cheers, RickO
Yeah it's pretty nice!

The app has been updated with the changes to display more information on submissions.
Nooo!! I had an order that made it all the way to quality check yesterday. Then after a while it went back to encapsulation. Then it went back to the "grading" step. I guess don't get your hopes up watching the progress bar!
Sounds like QC found an error and something is being re-graded and hopefully to your benefit.
My late May submission of 31 US medals has been "grading" for over 2-1/2 months.

And the order ships before you can even see tru-views. I think this is a mistake because if you see a problem or want the photo redone, it's too late and you'll need to either accept it or spend more money to send back.
I hear you! I have an order with one single medal, and it's been in the state of "received" for 3 weeks so far!
Update! As of this morning, my medal that has been in "received" status for 3 weeks has been updated. Get this...it's still in "received" status, but now it says "images ready." Of course, I can't see the images, but allegedly the photos have been taken.
At which point in the process are grades visible? It used to be effective at shipped. How about now?

From an earlier submission that was in-house through the transition to the new style of reporting, I can tell you that the grades are visible immediately after verification - even before their serial numbers are live and linked to their verification pages. Typically, the images don't get uploaded until a few days after the coins are shipped out.
Grades are still available the second the charge hits the card. Mine still was on the quality check when the charge hit and grades were available.
4 of my "Public Friday" submissions on August 2nd have been in "grading" for a bit over 2 weeks so far, and one has been in "encapsulation" for more than a week. Just wondering when these grades hit!
Liking this new transparency on the grading, even when it bounces from QC back to grading.
Good to know QC is occurring since no one is perfect and after viewing so many coins, grading, printing, encapsulating, etc... errors occur.
It's seeming that each step along the way may take multiple days and/or weeks. I have a one-coin World-Express submission now on its 25th business day. (By comparison, World-Express is targeted to take up to 5 days, and has been listed as trending at 12 days.) Customer Service requested the order to be expedited two weeks ago, but it seems that request was summarily denied.
That is ridiculous!

Could it be that the grader they want to look at your medal is on vacation? I could see where for certain items, they'd want a specific grader involved, which might screw up the turnaround time.

Perhaps. That said, it's been in PCGS' hands for 41 calendar days so far, so would the grader actually take 6 weeks off for a vacation?
This is the status as of this morning:
Aside from images (which cannot be accessed), it seems it hasn't even been looked at as yet. Shouldn't there be a description and region identified by now at the least?
Seems the order status system has some flexibility and you’ll see different things depending on your submission.
@Tetromibi ‘s OP has:
Arrived-->Received-->Grading-->Encapsulation-->Quality Check-->Order Shipped-->Delivered
Now we can add “crackout.”

I'm sending in a restoration of two PCGS coins. Will be interesting to see how that goes.

The progress bar is just a gimmick, provides no worthwhile information. My submission did the exact same thing a week ago. The my order page says Quality Check, but the Progress Bar say Encapsulation. Just more changes for the sake of change
Have a couple of submissions (2019 S RP Silver Eagle) that are at the "grading" phase. Does anyone know if I will be able to see my grade at any point in the process? Or is only AFTER the coin is shipped back..
As soon as the charge hits your credit card, the grades will be available.
They have been doing this for quite a while. It is nice knowing where in the process your coins are.
You’ll also get an email saying grades are available.
Thanks, I guess I can stop my OCD checking of their website. It's my first submission so I'm on edge.
That’ll never stop.
I’m an obsessive checker, too, but use the app.
